On-The-Ropes-461x732
A murderer’s child…A foster child…A troubled teen…Gabriel ‘The Saint’ Vega has never had an easy life. Being shuffled from one foster home to another after his father murdered his mother, he found himself in and out of trouble with the law. Never giving a damn about himself, let alone anyone else, his life was spiraling out of control; fast. Until one man and one sport changed everything.

Frankie Carbone taught Saint how to handle his anger and rejection; by fighting it out in the ring. On his way to stardom, Saint finds himself pushed into the spotlight and into the arms of more women than he can ever imagine; he’s completely content with one night stands and random sex.

Then Salem Harris comes walking into his life and changes his game plan. Saint finds himself wanting Salem in all the ways that scare him. She is off limits; taken. But that doesn’t stop Saint from going after what he wants, and he wants her.

Frankie showed Saint a new way of life with Boxing, but will Salem give him the one thing he's never known – love? Will Saint find himself fighting for the one thing he thinks he doesn't deserve or will Salem end up breaking his heart? Gabriel ‘The Saint’ Vega has had to fight for every good thing he's gotten in his life. Can he go the distance?

I’m not normally a fan of boxing-type books, mainly because I don’t really “get” the sport, and I don’t really want to learn it.  But I took a shot on this book and I can say that I’m glad that I did because I ended up enjoying the book a bit more than I thought that I would.

I did like how Ms. Cervone didn’t make the book all about boxing, and the parts that were really mentioned about the sport, it was explained in a way that I was able to follow along and understand it completely.  The only time the boxing part of the story got to me, is how when a group of boxers was introduced, and their names plus their nicknames were given.  It was confusing for me personally.  I did enjoy the characters, even though there were some that I didn’t really enjoy, I still enjoyed following along with the story.  The storyline itself was one that, while I felt it was a bit predictable at times, I still was able to get into the story and enjoy it.

This is a solid 4 star read for me personally.  I don’t see myself re-reading this book again in the future, however I do have plans on continuing on with the series to find out what happens to Gabriel and Salem.

Nighttime Promises (Nighttime Wishes #3) by M.A. Church

Be careful what you wish for...

The first time Daroshi spotted Bryan, the Maz’Rarian warrior knew he wanted the small town sheriff as his mate. Things have been going downhill since. Daroshi doesn’t have experience dealing with humans, especially a very unhappy human male who’s just had his well-planned life jerked out from under him. Little does Daroshi know the changes Bryan will insist be made to help him adjust. But he also never dreamed someone would actually try to kill his mate.

The shocks just keep coming for Sheriff Bryan Coltrane. Finding out aliens exist was bad enough. Finding himself mated to one was definitely not on his to-do list. Wait, what? Did someone say tentacles? And if that’s not enough, a killer tried to poison him. Added to his misery, now he’s on his way to another planet—a planet that he hates on sight. How’s he supposed to survive in such a cold, ugly industrialized world? Can you take the country out of the boy without killing his spirit?

As Bryan struggles to adapt, a killer plots to end his new life... before it even begins.

This is book three in the series and you must read in order.

This one again is about Bryan and Daroshi although Shawn and Ziang do play a role in the story. We’ve made it through space, the poising and now about to land on their new plant and home. Once Bryan and Shawn see the new planet they are heart sick to see it’s as bland as the ship, browns, grays, no color. But they are determined to make the best of it. Once Bryan and Daroshi get to Daroshi home and settle into the new life it becomes obvious that Bryan is not happy, so they decide to go on a hunting trip were Bryan is the prey. Little do they know that someone else will be hunting him as well?

This book is all about moving the story along. Getting Bryan settled, seeing if this will work, getting to know each other. And it’s a good story. Couple of twists which are predictable but still very well written and the sexual encounters are smoking hot. My big issue’s with this one is that we spent several pages in the beginning and then again later on rehashing the first two books.  Now, I have to admit that I don’t know the time gap between releases, but these books aren’t that long. People can skim read to catch up if they have forgotten obvious plot points? Why waste valuable page space? give us more story, please.  Also something that bugged me throughout the book, and I don’t normally bring up covers but I LOVE covers and will buy a book just based on it. On both the second and third book, we show Bryan hairless but clearly by the description he is a hairy guy. This really bothers me; do we just not care enough to get the cover and the character to match? This time we aren’t left with a cliffy but enough of an open that we will probably see another couple of books in the series.

Silent Woods by Ofelia Gränd

When Daniel’s husband Anders takes the family camping in the woods, Daniel can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right.

He almost dismisses his fears as nothing more than his dislike of the great outdoors, but when the couple’s five-year-old son Axel goes missing, his worst fears are confirmed.

A search party reveals something more sinister than either man could ever have dreamed of encountering in the woods. Can they find Axel and save him before it’s too late?

My first book by this author and I have to say I was expecting so much more. Maybe because it’s only a novella and that’s why I felt it was lacking. But the whole thing I didn’t feel anything for any of the characters, and I thought I should have especially since a child went missing, I should have felt the anguish, right? Also, who keeps a staple gun in the trunk of their car? Other than those points I did like the fact that the bond these men clearly had, the family they have created. I liked the wooing touch they did, by playing the violin. And then the twist at the end.
Ofelia Gränd is Swedish through and through. She lives in a small west coast town with her husband and their three children. She has absolutely no time to write, so, naturally, that’s what she wants to do. Have you ever tried to write something with one child in your lap and two more standing around wanting attention? Ofelia does all the time—try, that is.

She could give up her glamorous life as a stay-at-home mum, and go back to her work as a teacher. But why not take advantage of the situation when she’s living in a parental leave utopia? Enough about her being a parent, you think, and you’re quite right. Ofelia is a no-poo follower, a pescatarian who bakes her own bread and makes her own soap—now, you wished that we’d stuck to the children, don’t you?
If you still want to know more, you’ll find Ofelia here:

Tamed (Club Sin #5) by Stacey Kennedy

Porter Marshall has nearly achieved his goal of becoming a Club Sin Master, but his new sub poses a much bigger challenge than he anticipated. Despite their mutual attraction and red-hot dungeon sessions, Kenzie Hart plays her own games. Her bratty, you-can’t-break-me attitude masks terrible personal hurt—pain that only the exquisite touch of a skilled Dom can release. But when Porter suggests taking their connection to the outside world, Kenzie denies him . . . which only makes him want her more.

Kenzie can’t ignore the raw, fierce bond she has with Porter. But she can’t give in to his dangerous demands, either. Is the passion they share real, or is he using her to solidify his status at Club Sin? And yet, who else can she trust with the shattering secrets she holds within? As Porter expertly brings her to the point of no return, Kenzie surrenders her body—and, piece by piece, her heart.

Tamed is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.
I have been looking forward to Kenzie and Porter’s story for a long time! As a HUGE Club Sin Series fan (and an even bigger Stacey Kennedy fan), this story did NOT disappoint me!
Kenzie is Club Sin’s resident submissive. She loves to push the limits with the Masters and is not afraid of their punishment. She is bratty and does not want to get close to anyone. Including any Master. Porter wants to be a Master at Club Sin and has some difficult work to do in order to pass the others’ test – tame Kenzie and get her to truly sub to him.
Like any other book in this series, the “scenes” are scorching HOT!! But, what sets this story apart is that Kenzie is so hurt and damaged, yet she won’t let anyone close enough to comfort her. She uses her attitude as a shield to push everyone away. But, Porter pushes past and she begins to submit to him.
While this story can be read as a stand-alone, I HIGHLY recommend you start at the beginning of the series. Each couple/character is featured in more than one book, creating an amazing world in Club Sin. They are all well worth the time to read!

#Beyond: Tia Louise

Tia Louise is the Amazon Bestselling author of the ONE TO HOLD series.

Her debut adult romance ONE TO HOLD was a 2014 "Lady Boner" award-winner, #1 in Military Romance, and a Top 20 Contemporary Romance novel for several months. ONE TO KEEP, #2 in the series of stand-alone novels, followed the same course, with the remaining performing equally well.

From being a "Readers' Choice" nominee two years running, to picking up USA Today "Happily Ever After" nods, nothing makes her happier than communicating with fans and weaving new tales into the Alexander-Knight world of stories.

A former journalist, Louise lives in the center of the U.S.A. with her lovely family and one grumpy cat. There, she dreams up stories she hopes are engaging, hot, and sexy, and that cause readers rethink common public locations...

It's possible she has a slight truffle addiction.

Who in your personal life was the biggest supporter of your writing?

My husband “Mr. TL” is by far my biggest supporter. We were both English majors when we met in college, and he’s an even more voracious reader than I am. So he thinks its amazing that I’m writing books. He’s also my best brainstorming partner. Being a lawyer, he helps me think through many of the situations the Alexander-Knight guys face.

Do you prefer quiet or background noise when writing? If background noise, what?

Quiet—unless it’s white noise. Otherwise, it distracts me.

What is one thing you wish your readers could understand about the writing process?

I guess how personal it is. Writers work very hard on these stories, developing these characters. They become like family to us, which is weird because they’re fictitious. For me, however, even the “bad guys” have some redeeming qualities. Well, except Sloan.

If your characters could come to life and be a real human, which one do you think you would get along with best and which one would drive you crazy first?

I’ve always thought I would be besties with Elaine—I’m sure I’d love Melissa and Kenny… heck, all the ladies are great friends. The one who would drive me crazy first is probably Nikki. LOL!

When did you start writing and what was your inspiration?

I’ve been writing all my life, starting with my first graphic novel when I was nine. (It was me and my ballpoint pen.) As I got older, I worked as a journalist, I taught high school English, I was an editor for a while. In my 30s I decided to start writing books, and it’s been fantastic. I guess my inspiration is all the great stories I’ve read or watched in my life.

Is there a genre or type of book that you love to read but could never write and if so why?

I don’t know. I pretty much read what I write. I don’t read much horror, but that might be hard. Just because I tend to get very emotionally invested when I’m writing. I have to keep going back to the “bad” scenes and layering in the emotions so I’m not overwhelmed… LOL!

Seeing more and more authors going the "self-pub' route. Thoughts?

Self publishing has really made it possible for more and more serious authors to make a living writing books. Before indie, only a handful—like five to ten—authors were able to make a living from their books. That is a great thing in itself.

How much thought do you as an author put into your cover, cover models etc. And has that changed since you started writing. If so, have you or will you go back and re-do covers you’re no longer pleased with?

I’ve always spent a lot of time on my covers, and I’ve always tried to work with some of the best cover designers available. I hope to one day earn enough to afford cover models and custom shoots. In the meantime, I’m pretty happy with what we’ve done.

What is the most intense scene you have ever written? Did you find it difficult writing that scene?

Probably *the scene* in One to Protect was the hardest. Mostly it was because I wanted to be sure I conveyed what was happening, how it unfolded, and I really wanted to build to it with Derek’s past and mental state. All of that will come into play in One to Save.

I stressed out the most about writing *the scene* in One to Love—but again, it was more of a build concern. I try to make these moments as emotional and believable as possible. I was actually really worried I wouldn’t do Kenny & Slayde’s love story justice.

If you could write in any genre that you've never tried, what would it be and why?

I’m pretty happy where I am! But I do think that Halloween idea for the One to Hold crew would be fun. (I.e., Derek as vampire, Melissa as Mina, the Knight brothers as shifters… Mariska and Elaine as witches… Kenny & Slayde as the Van Helsings… Sloan as a zombie. LOL!)

When writing, what comes first? The characters or the plot?

Since I have these characters pretty established in my head, I guess I’d have to say the plot. Throwing them in these situations and seeing how they’ll work their way out.

Do you ever write your own personal fantasies into your books?

Would I love to travel to a luxurious spa with my bestie and be swept off my feet by a tall, dark, and sexy billionaire who does amazing things with his mouth? Why sure! LOL!

How much if any of your story line comes from real life people or events?

Not much. I mean, I don’t try to write anyone I know. Occasionally I’ll use names of people I know. But that’s more because I suck at picking names.

How many times do you read what you wrote and think "where the hell did that come from?!"

Quite a bit, actually. It’s more the sexy parts, though. I’m like, “Wow! Did I write THAT?” LOL!

Do you have to look at the keys when you type?

No.

How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

Just enough, but not too much.

What are you two favorite 80’s movies?

Sixteen Candles and… jeez. This is hard b/c I was a kid in the 80s. I guess I have to say The Lost Boys because my best friend Dara and I saw that movie about 100 times in the theater. (She had a boyfriend who worked at the box office.)

Why are man-hole covers round?

A round manhole cover can’t fall in if inserted diagonally… also round covers don’t have to be precisely aligned.
Derek Alexander is a retired Marine, ex-cop, and the top investigator in his field. Melissa Jones is a small-town girl trying to escape her troubled past.
