I’ll
give yalls a heads up right from the start.
THIS BOOK CONTAINS BDSM IN IT TO A HARD CORE LEVEL. If you are uncomfortable with reading books
with that in them, you should NOT read this book. Also, this book contains Male Male relations
(as stated above) so if you don’t like those types of books, DO NOT read this
one!
Now
onto the review!!
We meet
Alexander (what a shock I know!) right from the beginning and we are introduced
right away to his form of “therapy” which is visiting a BDSM club to be
whipped. Right from the beginning, I
could tell that Alexander isn’t doing this because he enjoys it and my heart
breaks for him each time he visits Eric (his Dom). You could tell that something had happened to
him in his past that he was trying to get past.
Usually I don’t like it when you can tell a character is hiding
something, but I did like the fact that throughout the story we were told
little bits of what had happened to him.
Sage’s
character, although he was really well written, I felt like there was more time
spent on Alexander than him. I think it
ended up balancing out in the end of the story though because Sage was more
about his strength than anything else.
He was able to support Alexander when he needed him to and he was able
to help Alexander grow and accept his past.
There
are many different things that take part in this story, between Alexander and
Sage’s relationship , the attempts on peoples’ lives, and of course finding out
the truth of Alexander’s past. While
there was a bunch happening in the book, I still think it was a very well
written and the story flowed really well.
If you
enjoy the M/M genre, then I do believe you should check this book out!
The newest book by Susan Mac Nicol
is Saving Alexander; it is completely riveting, heart-wrenching and she take
you on a ride of self-discovery.
It starts off with Alex Montgomery a
man you wouldn't want to take home
too Mama. He is a well-known, talented author who is hiding a painful secret
from his past that happened 17 years earlier. The only solace that Alex finds
is in an S&M club where he is being dominated and abused by Eric as he
thinks of this as his needed therapy. As the story progresses we
slowly get tidbits of his past that show why this type of solace is what Alex
needs to deal with in his past. Reading
the S&M scene was so well-written that it doesn't make you squeamish but
yet sexually explicit. It works so well with the scene. You want to grab Alex
and hug him and provide the love he needs and at the same time strangle Eric
the dominator.
Now comes in beautiful Christopher Sage who just prefers to go by Sage. He is the man you do want to take home too Mama. Once Alex see's Sage he knows he is perfect to play the lead character in the new TV series that is being produced from Alex's book. The character Carter West was actually written for Sage but that is unbeknownst to everyone except Alex. Sage is heartwarming and actually what Alex is in need of even though he keeps Sage at bay. There are not many surprises when it comes to Sage but with Alex there are so many twists and challenges he needs too over come to find love with Sage.
My favourite scene (and trust me there are so many good ones) but this particular scene ripped at my heart strings. Late one night Sage is closing up and ready to leave but comes across Alex, in his office and passed out on his desk. At first Sage is come on Alex, get it together but then he gets closer and sees the many bruises and gashes on Alex's back. He is now really concerned and tries to wake Alex, which he does and he again pushes Sage away. Alex thinks if Sage knew the truth about his past, he would go running and lose him for good. So at Sage's pushing he asks Alex what was so bad that he needs this kind of solace. Alex finally gives in and basically challenges Sage, so you really want know ok here it is. Now Sage is thinking, does he really want to know and Alex tells him what happened 17 years ago. Sage is now heartbroken for the pain Alex endured. I won't spoil what actually happened for you but trust me it is quite horrific.
Susan takes us on a wild ride of complete personal torment, BDSM, heartbreak and beautiful sex scenes. The way Susan writes actually makes you feel that you are a part of Alex and Sage's lives. Once you start reading her beautiful and yet tormenting story, you won't be able to put it down. Once you are done you will be thinking of Alex and Sage for months to come, you won't be able to stop thinking about them.
I love this story very much and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a book of love and redemption and beautiful man loves scenes.
