Sometimes you have to risk everything, to follow your heart
"Noble Pleasures, Book 1"
In a world where gentlemen openly court and marry fellow noblemen, the threat of scandal still lurks behind every velvet drape for kings and princes. Such has been the fate for King Arend Tollemach, forced to sacrifice his heart on the altar of regal duty.
Now that his wife is dead and his royal obligations are at an end, he s ready to take an unthinkable risk. King Arend seeks a concubine from Temple Sapphor, a secretive, gated world where he will finally shed his virginity as least as it pertains to making love to a man.
Julian never thought he d spend ten years on the temple shelf, passed over again and again. Just when he despairs of ever finding placement in a nobleman s bed, Arend walks into the temple. A lonely eyed, beautiful king who could easily steal his heart.
Arend discovers he has no problem opening his bed to the exquisite concubine. The problem lies in finding the key to his long-shuttered heart.
Warning: Contains a beautiful, virgin king desperate to bed another man, a concubine who fantasizes about being claimed and revered by a strong monarch, and a sea of scandal set against a sensual, palatial backdrop.

This is the first in the Noble Pleasure series books, the
two main MC’s are King Arend and Julian of Sapphor. Although we have several
secondary characters that play pretty big roles and will probably end up
featured in the rest of the series.
King Arend at a young age knew he loved and wanted to marry
a third son of another realm but his father refused the match and forced him
into a marriage with a women. Many years later that loveless marriage is over,
due to the ladies death. The son produced from the marriage is off, and King
Arend is ready to finally precede with his originals plans, and find a man. A
concubine that he can hide from the royal court and his heart, Julian is sent to
meet the needs of the King, but one look at each other and they both realize
fate may have more in mind then just sex.
I really wanted to love this book I love regency romance and
Old World romance. The slow build, the courtship all of it, and this book has
all that. Too slow at times, dragged in places, also I found the time period
too vague for me, can’t get a handle on the time period, 1800? 1500? I need
things set in one time period and I felt like this one was all over the map.
Also the style of writing or verbiage I felt like we were trying too hard to
capture the ‘old world’ feel. I did enjoy the courtship letters written between
Arend and Julian and the fact that Julian had patients for Arend to overcome
his lifelong fears, believeth and training. And to finally call Julian to the Country
Estate to be with him, just a shame it left us with a cliff hanger. At 249 pages we should have been able to wrap
this one up.
