When Chancie de Leur meets highway patrol trooper Micah
Taylor one frosty Wyoming night, instant sexual heat kindles between them.
Chancie’s a lonely young widow who owns her own business and Micah is divorced,
so there shouldn’t be anything holding them back. But Micah wonders if
Chancie’s obvious wealth might become an issue, or the fact that she’s
apparently the second woman in his life who has zero interest in ever having
his baby.
Micah has no idea of the real problem between him and Chancie, until he meets
her son. Ten-year-old Jamie de Leur is determined to break up his mom and her
lawman, and Micah questions whether any relationship with Chancie is worth
dealing with the spoiled kid she’s raising.
In a showdown over Jamie breaking the law, Micah has to decide if he wants to
be Chancie’s cop—or her family man.

Crystal's Review:
To me,
if you are looking for a gentle romance, this is the book for you. The relationship between Micah and Chancie
starts out at a slow pace. Chancie seems
like the controlling type, ok there really isn’t any “seems like” she is. So Micah allows her to set the pace, and just
follows her lead. There is the drama
that takes part in this story; her son doesn’t really like Micah AT ALL. And seems to try his best to break them up at
times.
But all
in all, to me this book seemed a little predicable. For instance, Micah is a cop and he catches Jamie
breaking the law. I had seen that coming
from when we found out that Micah was a cop.
Chancie’s character, she seemed a bit of the “hard ball” that knows what
she wants and tries to take it. I was
really glad though later on in the book, she seemed to realize how she was
acting was wrong and she went through the steps to change her life.
I would
completely recommend this book if you are looking for that sweet romance,
without a lot of drama!
Sara's Review:
I will admit that I didn’t expect a lot from this story from the description. I felt it would be high on the cheese factor and really, I was pleasantly surprised.
Chancie is a 30 year old widow with a 10 year old demon…errr…I mean, son. She owns her own screening service business, which is how she meets the enchanting, and extremely HOT, Micah. Micah is a 33 year old, divorced highway trooper. They meet, the attraction is instant. I know that I thought at this point it would be one of those stories of insta-love that goes to insta-sex, but no. Micah seems to genuinely like Chancie and wants to know more about her, so he lets her set the pace of the relationship. What separates this book from others in this genre is Chancie's son, Jamie. He is evil. Rude, spoiled, and just basically an all-around brat. He is the speed bump in their budding relationship. Of course, you find out why Jamie is the way he is – which is a bit heartbreaking – but in the meantime he adds a different twist to your basic hot boy meets hot girl love story.
I thought that the writing and pace of this story were good. The characters were not one-dimensional, they all had an intriguing back story that kept me interested in the story was going. It was a bit predictable at points, but overall I enjoyed the characters and the story. I give this book 3 stars.
