For P.J. Stone, being a “Seer” who has never seen anything is less than
fun. And P.J. isn’t known for her patience.
To make matters worse, she must choose a suitable mate to continue the Seer bloodline. Duty always comes before her heart…at least that’s what her parents taught her. When she finds herself wanting someone who is considered off-limits, P.J. is forced to question everything she believes.
As if navigating her love life isn’t complicated enough, P.J. finally receives a vision—of a threat to her world that only she can perceive. But no one will believe a fledgling Seer’s warnings. With nowhere else to turn, she may decide to trust a stranger with her life, her world, and maybe even her heart.

I’m going to assume that you all know me by now. You know my
tastes in books; you know what I like, what I don’t like. You know that I love reading NA books, and I
can openly admit that since “Twilight” and “The Mortal Instruments” that I love
paranormal books. So, this blends two
genres that I like very much…throw in some steamy sex scenes, and I’m a happy
camper! Needless to say, the idea behind
“Hidden Gates” was right up my alley, and I was not disappointed.
This is the story of PJ, who is a seer. She and her best friend Bryn discover that
they are in love with each other, but because of the sort of castes within
their society, with Bryn being a “Guardian” who will one day protect PJ; their
love is forbidden (YAY!). They decide to
try and have a secret relationship, which as you could probably guess doesn’t
work out so well and they are caught by her father. Bryn is sent away and PJ tries desperately to
find an identity of her own, without her lifelong best friend by her side. During this time, besides being a man magnet,
she starts to have premonitions about invaders, and is having trouble finding
anyone to believe her. A lot of stuff
happens in this book, and as you can imagine because it’s the first book it’s
mostly a set up for the rest of the trilogy.
But, it’s quite the set up! Let
me just say, I’m torn as to whether I’m team Bryn or Team Kohl…it’s nearly
worth reading the whole book just to meet Kohl.
Rawr.
I found this book a bit hard to get in to at first. At the beginning, it seemed a bit too YA for
my tastes, but when it starts to take off…oy!
It takes off (wink, wink). This
is definitely NOT a YA book. The author
does a really good job of building the world in which this story takes place,
and gets you invested into the character and what will eventually happen to
them. It seems in the beginning like it
might be a simple story, but there are twists that add depth to the plot, and
so many little questions that get set up in the world building that you just
have to get answered! Obviously, this
book has a cliffhanger, so have book 2 ready to go, because you’ll want to
start on it right away. I give this book
4.5 stars!

P.J. Stone is a Seer who saw too little, too late.
In the past, her biggest worries were boys and school—but war has a way
of changing things. Now, the alien Riders are trying to overrun the
world. As the last of their kind, P.J. and her friends must find a way
to save humanity before there’s nothing left to save.
After choosing a mate, P.J. hoped she'd have time to enjoy her love
life. But with everything changing so quickly and major secrets
revealed, who knows what the future will bring?
When I finished the first book in this trilogy, I wondered a
few things. One, will it answer my
questions? Two, will there be more
sex? Three, will there be even more
sex? And fourth, can it be just as good
if not better than the first, with lots of sex?
Yes, yes, yes and yes!
This picks up right where “Hidden Gates” leaves off. I was engrossed in this story, people. ENGROSSED.
You find out so much more about PJ, Bryn and Kohl…and the scenes between
PJ and Kohl…all I can say is, mama like.
It’s really hard to write a review about the second book in a series
because I don’t want to give away any major plot points, but let me just say
that the author has perfected the love triangle concept. It’s painful, but it hurts sooooo good. I still can’t say for sure what team I’m on
as far as the men go, but I can’t wait to find out how the triangle is resolved
in the last book. Also, the action in
this book, of the non-sex variety, really captures you. There are some serious plot twists and turns
that take the reader on a quite the wild ride and the cliffhanger…oh man, I
have got to get my hands on the third book, because I HAVE to know how it all
ends.
I want to add too that as of late, there seemed to be a lot
of trilogies that don’t need to be trilogies, you know? Books that seems to stretch out the plot
almost unnecessarily. This series is not
like that. Yes, the books are
cliffhangers, but the world building is so intricate and the overall plot so
deep, it has to be three books. I say,
give me more than three, because I would read as many as the author would
write. Great writing, great world
building, great plot, great and funny characters…great book! 4.5 stars!

Bryn is gone. Jenna isn’t…herself, and the world has been taken over by the alien Riders. The only constant in P.J.’s life is Khol. But even he might not be able to help her pick up the shattered pieces of her life.

Cynical-Optimist. Chocolate-holic. Sarcasm Addict. Paranormal Believer. Self-Imposed Insomniac. Sci-Fi Geek. Animal Lover. Writer…are just a few words to describe D.T. Dyllin. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and now lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband and two very spoiled GSDs.
