At age twenty, Molly Shakespeare knows a lot.
She knows Descartes and Kant.
She knows academia and Oxford.
She knows that the people who love you leave you.
She knows how to be alone.
But when Molly leaves England's grey skies behind to start a new life at the University of Alabama, she finds that she has a lot to learn — she didn't know a summer could be so hot, she didn't know students could be so intimidating, and she certainly didn't know just how much the folks of Alabama love their football.
When a chance encounter with notorious star quarterback, Romeo Prince, leaves her unable to think of anything but his chocolate-brown eyes, dirty-blond hair and perfect physique, Molly soon realises that her quiet, solitary life is about to dramatically change forever...

I am a red-blooded American woman. In being such, I have a deeply patriotic
appreciation for sports. More
specifically, the pants that men wear while playing sports. I’ve never seen a pair of
baseball/football/basketball pants I didn’t like, and that wasn’t the
foundation for material I like to add to the Sara Squared spank bank (Mr.
Squared works long hours…). This being
said, I’m a fan of the sports romance, as it elicits even more sports pants
fantasies. That is one of the reasons I
was excited to read this book!
This is the story of Molly Shakespeare. She is beyond smart and working on her
masters at the tender age of 20 in philosophy.
Molly has had a less-than-perfect existence. Her parents died when she was young, and left
an indelible mark on her soul, which have inspired her to study philosophy, to
try and find some reason for her life or to fill the hole in her heart. She’s lonely, and awkward and nerdy…she’s pretty
awesome. She is at the University of
Alabama from England, where she meets star football quarterback Romeo Prince
(note the Shakespeare reference...kudos!).
They have more in common than one would think and end up finding a
kindred soul in one another. It’s a
touching story of love and loss and finding a way to move on and up from your
past and the unexpected roads that life leads you down.
I really, really liked Molly. She’s smart and witty, but closes herself off from people, but for good reason. She’s kind of quirky, but she has a vulnerability about her that is endearing. She is the nerdy girl who captures the attention of the big man on campus, and really, what’s not to love about a story like that? I think at the heart of my love for romance novels is to live in the moment and experience when the characters connect and fall in love not because of their physical attributes, but because their souls speak to one another. A deep connection between two people is what I love to read about, and what you find in this book.
Now for Romeo…oh Romeo, Romeo (Shakespeare! BAM!). I bet he fills out a pair of football pants very well. But aside from his popularity, skill and physical perfection, he’s a lost soul too. He’s looking for answers just as Molly is, and when they come together, it’s perfection in their imperfections. He’s a great hero, with a lot of depth and courage to deeper and feels deeper than one would think at first glance.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story. It’s sweet and it takes me back to being in
my early twenties and struggling to find out who I was and what I wanted. It’s well written and is a 4 star book for
me!
Tillie Cole is a Northern
girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that
little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She
was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter,
her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of
rescue animals and horses.
