She gets more than expected when she meets sexy, charming Harris Montgomery, a local businessman and tennis pro, a man who seems to be the exact opposite of her ex-husband. Through Harris, she discovers her submissive side when he introduces her to spanking good times, and she begins to trust herself again. But when the relationship progresses to a deeper level, she discovers Harris and her ex share more in common than she’d thought. With future happiness on the line, can she risk surrendering her heart on a long shot?

Ms. Bristol takes us back to Corbin's Bend as Abby moves to her aunt's apartment as she attempts to get her life back on track after divorcing her high school sweetheart whose gambling cost them her grandmother's house and her collection of antiques. Abby is fortunate that she is able to work for her aunt in her antiques shop, giving her the opportunity to start over while doing something she loves. As fate would have it, she meets Harris, a single resident of Corbin's Bend that her aunt thinks will be perfect for her, while moving in to get aunt's apartment. Although Harris finds Abby attractive, he thinks her too vanilla and decides he's going to cancel on going to Auntie Q's for dinner. That is, until he stops by the shop the following day to talk to Quincy only to find Abby stocking the store with some new antiques ... paddles, floggers, and even a couple of spanking benches. Once he notices that her blush isn't entirely due to embarrassment and that her touch lingers on the leather implements, his sparks of attraction from the day before begin to smolder and he decides to see where things may lead.

Fortunately Abby agrees to go on a date with Harris and we get front row seats to an entertaining read as they explore a domestic discipline relationship even though they aren't living together nor dating seriously as Harris is anti-marriage due to his parents' multiple failed marriages. I'll just say that when THAT conversation occurred, I found myself chuckling as the always confident and in control Harris developed a terrible case of foot-in-mouth disease. But as expected, all is not smooth sailing as the relationship between the two develops and they have to deal with Abby's ex and how his past behavior has such an impact on her life and mindset.

Not only does Ms. Bristol provide an entertaining installment to the Corbin's Bend series, she also injects a bit of action into the story. And no, I wasn't referring to bedroom action either - although that was pretty freaking hot as Harris seems to have a bit of Dom in him. Long Shot is a great addition to the Corbin's Bend series and I'll be checking out more of Ms. Bristol's writing.
