Mica
Scott was raised on a ranch in Northeast Texas. Life was hard, but not
impossible...until she met her own personal nightmare one night at a
rodeo. She escaped his abuse by putting things behind her, isolating
herself with a move to Chicago for college and work.
Davis Mason is the hard-living president of the Rebel Wayfarers, a motorcycle club operating out of Chicago. With just one encounter, he becomes determined to keep Mica safe...whether she wants him to or not. He will use every possible means in his control to manage Mica, while holding himself aloof from taking the one thing he really wants...her.
Daniel Rupert is a successful businessman. He owns a trucking company and a hockey team, for which he is the star forward. Meeting Mica and Mason when he helped foil an attempt on her life, he began working jointly with Mason to keep her safe. But unlike Mason, Daniel is not satisfied with a platonic relationship. He insinuates himself into Mica's life, and he only wants...everything.
Events escalate and Mica's very life hangs in the balance as old threats resurface and the men in her life scramble to keep her alive.

There is a LOT going on in this book. Mica is not only the story of Michaela
Scott, but as the first book in the series it also serves as an introduction to
the Rebel Wayfarers Motorcycle Club. Readers who are sensitive to the subject
of rape should proceed with caution as it is one of the more prevalent themes
of the book. While the author handles the topic with great care, it does come
up repeatedly in the book and could be a potential trigger for some readers.
Mica is an inspiring combination of
strength and vulnerability. She had a tough childhood that got worse after her
mother died when she was 14. Because she was a skilled horse rider and trainer
she started on the rodeo circuit at 18, where she met Ray and learned more
about life's cruelties as he was abusive and controlling. When she managed to
flee that situation she found herself in Chicago and eventually neighbors with
Mason, the MC President. Mason is not only sexy as sin, but he also observes her
discomfort with him and spends months making her comfortable in his presence
and gaining her trust. Although Mica doesn't understand its significance, Mason
claims her as the club's Princess and puts her under their protection – an
action that ends up saving her life and insuring her well-being several times
throughout the book. It is during one of these incidents that Daniel enters her
life. While Mason is bad boy sexy, Daniel is good guy hot and finds himself
quite drawn to Mica. What follows is one of the oddest love triangles I have
ever read and I loved every bit of it.
I was touched by the way that Mason
and Mica loved one another. Her trust was something he fought hard for and was
so determined to keep that he refused to allow his attraction to her interfere.
Because of their friendship, the sex scenes between them are intense because
they are filled with love. However it is the sexual chemistry between Mica and
Daniel that produce the seriously hot sex scenes. But as hot as the scenes are,
it is the constant love and support that Mica gets from both of the men that
enable her to face all the obstacles that life continues to throw at her – of
which, there are many. And while it is one heck of a rocky road, Mica finds her
“always” with the help of a hockey player, an MC President, and an entire
motorcycle club. The author has the series off to a great start and I'm looking
forward to the next book in the series.

Andrew
Jones grew up in a small town in Wyoming, and as a teen watched his
family implode following the death of his father. Driven by the need to
provide for his little brother, he begins looking for work, restlessly
traveling from job to job on his Indian motorcycle, seeking something he
cannot define.
Meeting Davis Mason, President of the Rebel Wayfarers MC in Chicago is a pivotal event in his life, and over the following years he gradually becomes Slate, assuming the persona as first a prospect into Mason’s MC, then as a full patch member. He has finally found the brotherhood he longed for, a sense of connection and belonging…a family and home.
The only thing missing from Slate’s life is a woman who can love him…all of him. He finds his match in a daughter of the MC, and his dreams become filled with her silent smiles, unruly red hair, and soft curves. Slate works to gain her trust, but as their relationship slowly begins to grow, ghosts from their previous lives threaten to ruin everything and put the woman he loves in grave danger.
Can he save her from dangers drawn to her by the past, or will she and their love be a casualty of conflict caused by the club.

Although Slate is the second book in the Rebel Wayfarers MC series, you do
not have to read Mica first. This
book is Slate’s story – his adolescence, his years on the road after leaving
home to find work to help support his family, the clubs he encountered while
traveling for work, and his time with the Rebel Wayfarers. If you read Mica you will likely appreciate the
minimal overlap between the books, not because it eliminates repetitive scenes,
but because you learn the things that happened behind the scenes that Mica
wasn’t aware of. I found this especially insightful when reading Ray’s
attempted abduction of Mica from her house while Slate, Tug, and Tucker were
there – I liked learning why Slate had gone to Mica’s room that night when he
did.
The first third of the book details
various aspects of Slate’s life before he meets Mason. Ms. deMora does a
wonderful job of painting the picture of the painful yet impacting adolescence
Andy (Slate) experienced and how it shaped who he would become. I loved how
each of the significant experiences of his life were revealed and how they
served as the story behind one of his many tattoos. It is through this that we
learn that Slate is a sentimental man who takes life’s lessons to heart. Make
no mistake, Slate is a total bada$$ but he is also a friend and a Brother to
many people. I for one would much rather be a recipient of his loyalty and
friendship than to be responsible for pissing him off and being the object of
his wrath. Even though he and Essa did not end up together (my apologies to
those readers of Mica who didn’t
figure that out from Slate’s
synopsis) I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their time together – the mutual
masturbation scene was freaking hot!
I absolutely adored the relationship
that Slate developed with Ruby. That he offered her a choice between club
Princess and his Old Lady showed how aware he was of her problems even without
actually knowing what they were. I really liked how patient he was with Ruby
and that he took his time with her so that she became comfortable with him.
This allowed the author to build up the sexual tension between Slate and Ruby,
thus resulting in some really intense sex scenes. While Slate doesn’t have the same level of action and suspense that most
of my MC reads do, it held its own with several threads in the story and had me
on the edge of my seat more than once. Slate
is an excellent addition to the Rebel Wayfarers MC series and I’m looking
forward to reading Bear next.

Rob
Crew had purpose in his life. He was a devoted husband, doting father,
and committed Navy man…then his life changed forever. Cast adrift, he
finds friendships in the Rebel Wayfarers Motorcycle Club and fulfillment
as he transitions into the role of loyal and supportive club member. He
becomes Bear, a man who fills an important position in this brotherhood
of bikers.
A caregiver by nature, Eddie’s chosen career focuses on helping the most vulnerable – teaching special needs children and young adults. Surrounded by loving family and friends, she is content with what she considers her full and satisfying life…until she meets Bear, an enforcer for the local MC. Even through their initial encounter is brief, she can’t make herself forget the pain in his eyes as he turned away from her.
Their lives intersect at surprising intervals, with each contact underscoring the attraction and connection they share. Can Eddie convince Bear that it is okay to move past his pain and love again?

Their lives intersect at surprising intervals, with each contact underscoring the attraction and connection they share. Can Eddie convince Bear that it is okay to move past his pain and love again?
As much as I enjoyed reading Mica and Slate, Bear is by far my
favorite of the series to date – despite the fact that I cried like a baby
several times throughout the book. As with the previous books in the series, Bear can be read as a standalone as
there is minimal overlap of scenes, but if you’ve read the previous books it
will give you further insight to various incidents the occurred.
Consistent with Ms. deMora’s writing
style, Bear tells us the story of how
Rob Crew becomes Bear and how his life led him to the Rebel Wayfarers
Motorcycle Club. Rob’s story is both joyful and heartbreaking – to find love at
such a young age and to know it was a love with staying power only to have it
ripped away so unexpectedly had me in freaking tears. I was devastated for Rob
when he learned of the accident and shredded when he returned home on
bereavement leave to tend to the house. The author did an excellent job of
making me feel Rob’s love for his wife and daughter – he was a good man who
loved his girls deeply – and it was her ability to make me connect with Rob so
easily that caused me to cry for him several times while reading Bear. As such, I was tickled pink when
Eddie entered the story, even if it was only from afar in the beginning.
Even though Eddie and Rob had an
instant connection, an instant spark, they didn’t act upon it for years and
when they did they took a long time to get to know one another before they
moved to intimacy. This was due in part to Rob’s willingness to risk his heart
and expose it to potential loss again, but it had more to do with Eddie’s
refusal to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Eddie refused to get involved with
a biker because she didn’t want to be part of that world anymore. Thankfully,
she could only resist Bear for so long and their feelings for the other made
for some really loving and hot sex scenes.
As with the prior books in the series,
Bear contains a lot of action and
suspense, but the primary focus is on the relationship between Bear and Eddie. I
enjoyed that the characters realized that the initial spark between them was
attraction and didn’t try to claim they were in love. Ms. deMora does a
wonderful job of infusing her characters with traits and experiences that go a
long way to making them feel real. Eddie’s musings over the bite she received
from a student with autism succeeded in cementing my preference for her within
the series (yep, it’s happened to me on more than one occasion). Again, I loved
the touches the author provides of the other characters and how she continues
to develop Mason’s story within the series. I am looking forward to the next
book in the series, but even more so for Mason’s book.
Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the
magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the
local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a
book-a-holic, she says “I’ve always loved to read, but then I discovered
writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading … if nothing else is
available, I’ve been known to read the back of the cereal box.”
A hockey fan, hiker, gamer, and single mom of a
special needs son, she embraces her inner geek and has been working in the tech
field for a publishing company for a couple decades.
Music is a driving passion, and she says, “I love
music of nearly any genre — jazz, country, rock, alt rock, metal, classical,
bluegrass, rap, hip hop … you name it, I listen to it. I can often be seen
dancing through the house in the early mornings. But I really, REALLY love live
music. My favorite thing with music is seeing bands in small, dive bars [read:
small, intimate venues]. If said bar [venue] has a good selection of premium
tequila, then that’s a plus!”
