Arianna Moore is one half of the female rock duo, The Daughters of Darkness. She has walls built up around her heart that are taller than any skyscraper. But when an unexpected gig throws her and Jayde Kimberland a deal of a lifetime, Arianna finds herself intertwined with the rock star bad boy, Bryden Rowe, who leads the platinum selling rock group, From Yesterday. His reputation isn’t the best and she doesn’t want to be another notch on his belt.
Will she be able to keep those walls firm in place or will Bryden be the one to finally knock them down?
When the past comes knocking on both their doors, emotions run high, and tensions run even higher. Will they be able to break past all the barriers and find comfort in one another or will it only last while on the road?
Female rockers…that’s a pleasant departure from the norm of
romance novels! Arianna is half of the
rock duo “The Daughters of Darkness”.
She and her best friend Jayde met when they were foster kids. Arianna and her twin sister were put in the
same foster home as Jayde and they became like sisters. They are performing at their regular hometown
bar when they are offered the chance of a lifetime, the chance to be the
opening act for a big rock band, “From Yesterday”. As they tour with the band, Arianna is taken
off guard by her growing feelings for the bad boy lead singer Bryden. She wants to resist but finds it nearly
impossible to do so. Bryden wants her
too, and is determined to break down her walls and be let in. Will Arianna let him?
First off, this is just a really well written book. It flows and involves you in the story,
which makes it a quick and enjoyable read.
I wouldn’t say that the plot is terribly original, though I did
appreciate that the leading ladies were rockers in their own right. However, the chemistry between Arianna and
Bryden and their interactions felt natural. I also really enjoyed the build up
between the two main characters. It had
an air of realism to it that I appreciated, and it made the story feel genuine
and interesting. Plus, Bryden’s off the
chart sexiness doesn’t hurt the story!
This is a standalone book, but I gather it will be a part of
a series. I’m really interested in
Jayden’s story, which is next. The
characters in this book have a lot of depth and suffer from a lot of emotional
turmoil and confusion, but it’s not too much.
It really works, and endears the characters to you. I’m interested in learning more about the
characters we’ve met here, as I’m not ready to say goodbye to them just
yet. This book gets 4 stars from me.
