From the lights of the field, to the curve in the road, one shattered breath leaves friendships forever altered.
The Forever Love Series will submerge you into two novels intertwined together where love and loss can break you down, tear you apart, and even last forever, if you’re willing to let it.
After a celebratory night for six friends on the cusp of adulthood ends tragically, they’re left learning how to carry on. Years later, through their own struggles and accomplishments, each is left suspended by fears that encase them with such an intense blinding light, and a horrific soul-stealing darkness. Can they find their way out of the intricate web of guilt and deceit? Can they grasp the light amongst the shadows of what they used to be... and manage to be who they should become?
Sometimes the only way to heal is to face the fear of forever.
In Forever Dark, a novel by Chelsea Landon, you’ll spiral through life’s twists and turns of Cash Bryant, humbled quarterback, living his dream on the brink of fame, and Madison Thomas, a girl who shares the burden of the accident and destined for failure. Two people torn apart by tragedy; fearing that letting go will sever their remaining connection.
Oh I would love to have more stars to give this book. This story not only affected me emotionally
as a reader, but as a mother it took me to a whole new level of emotions and
pain. Megan Smith and Chelsea Landon have become two of the best authors I know
who can describe a scene in a book and draw every possible emotion out of the
reader while still progressing through the story. Two of the most dramatic scenes in this book
not only had me holding my breath, but I could literally hear the crashing of
glass and the sounds of objects being hit while reading the story. I could smell the environment that they were
in and feel the anguish and panic involved in the event. They had me glued to
my kindle and there was just no way to put the book down after that.
This is the story of six teenagers, celebrating the end of
their senior year in high school and full of hopes and dreams for the future. Cash, Landon, Steven, Alexa, Madison and her
sister Macy all have the world in the palm of their hands. They were your normal teenagers, football,
parties, sex and each other. While they
pushed the rules and limits they were good kids that you just enjoyed reading
about. After winning the biggest game in
the history of the school, they decide to go celebrate. Cash had a surprise for Madison; he was going
to ask the big question.
Unfortunately tragedy happened before he could ask and their
world changes. I will insert now that I
had predictions of what this huge event was after reading the synopsis but when
it happened I have to admit the possibility of what did happen never crossed my
mind. This is one of the events that the
authors masterfully put me in the middle of and I felt every single dip and
rise of emotions as I read it.
After a while they all need to move on to college but for
some it won’t be that easy. While Cash
is the man I would dream for my daughters to find in real life, Madison could
never let go of the guilt of what happen. She broke my heart as a reader and a
mother. I was so invested in this group of kids by now, I was feeling a mothers
broken heart. Instead of finding help and seeking healing, she turned to drugs
and a road full of danger. Cash watched
her and did what he could but I think to protect his heart he ended up turning
to denial more than reality.
Watching Cash finally come to terms with his shattered heart
and pain from all he has lost including his dreams for he and Madison was
another event that had me sobbing and feeling every emotion that was
involved. The rest of the story we see
how they ended up and if they could ever recover from those three years after
the event and the damage that was done.
Macy and Madison’s relationship was destroyed in that time as well,
leaving Madison really struggling for relief.
The authors did a fabulous job with this story and I am not
sure how they are going to top it with the next book Forever Light. It will be about more of the friends we met
in this book. I think it is clear the
message in this book was it isn’t what made us crumble that determines our future;
it is how we get up and what we do with the pain. It is also an example of how love can help
heal, but it can very well be used as a weapon to destroy those we cherish. No one is an island in life, how we choose to
use love and recover will affect everyone in our life just as we saw with Cash
and Madison. I give you my highest
recommendation to read this series.

In Forever Light, a new novel by USA Today Bestselling Author Megan Smith, you’ll meet Landon Hayes, an all-star wide receiver who is spiraling out of control after that one fateful night, and Macy Thomas, a college sweetheart who is shy and afraid to come out of her shell since the accident. When the heart-breaking reality sets in, can they find their light or is the past too dark to find their way?
Once again I was sucked in and feeling the story, but this
time we focused on Landon and Macy. No matter
how much Macy takes, or the amount of crap Landon dishes out, I can’t stop
loving these two kids. We find out what
tore their world and friendships apart in the first book and while each try to
find their own way to cope; Landon and Madison make their journey the hardest.
Madison is Macy’s twin sister, Landon is the man Macy loves
and Macy is also witnessed what happen and lived through the horror. Landon seeks comfort in drugs and alcohol and
sometimes Macy’s twin but no matter what Macy continue to be there and begs him
not to leave her. She isn’t weak by any
means, she is a strong girl who knows that her love might not be enough to pull
Landon out of the dark shadows but she is willing to try. What we do find out is why she can forgive
Landon over and over but she hasn’t spoken to her sister in three years. I can’t say how much I admire Macy, I am not
sure I would have had her forgiveness and courage if I were in her shoes.
Landon had it all in high school. He has a beautiful girlfriend whom he could
see making a future with, a promising football career, full scholarship to
college and a best friend in Cash. He
saw the pain he was causing in Macy’s eyes every time she came to comfort him;
he knew he was breaking her heart. It
wasn’t lost on him that his best friend needed him and fought every day to make
the ones they lost proud. Landon knew
the truth regarding what happen and that fateful night but the whys continued
to haunt him and he couldn’t find the courage to face it till one day while in
college he realized he was very close to losing it all. His mistakes and the truth of his life had
been uncovered and he was going to have to be accountable for his actions. He was going to have to live up to that
tattoo he had on his back.
Once again, we see how these two end up after a journey
through hell. I am amazed at how this
series portrays the realistic outcome from the choices people make. As a mother I see it all the time, teenagers
and young adults feel they are invincible, nothing can happen to them but these
authors show us that isn’t true. My
heart breaks for these kids, I celebrate their victories and I see the goodness
in them no matter how bad they mess up.
They are young adults who have experienced the worst life has to offer
them and they have carried the would have, should have, could have guilt with
them for three years while trying to move on.
I gave this book four stars and the first book five
stars. Both are of excellent quality and
highly recommended, but I don’t think book one could ever be outdone because it
is there we experience the nightmare with them and we live through the
shock. With this book we deal with the
aftermath more and the cleaning up of collateral damage caused by bad
mistakes. Get your copy of this series,
you won’t regret it.
