This is considered the second book in the series but the books are being written by several different authors and merely set in the same world, so there is no need to read them in any order.  This is a very short and action packed book filled with Mages, shifters (called Changelings), Fae and Sorcerers.

The characters in this book are fascinating and the world is original but everything happened too quickly.  There is a prologue at the beginning of the book that helps to introduce the reader to the world and that was very helpful, however I would have loved to have more events explained as the book when on.  I felt like the whole book was rushed and we were only given enough information to get us to the next part of the story.  By the time I made it to the end I was hoping for an epilogue or something to help me reconcile all I had learned but alas there was none.

I was a little disappointed in Zanth’s character I felt like he was the damsel in distress and never really demonstrated many qualities worth the rest of the tribe risking their lives over.  Liam on the other hand is a strong, capable and loving man who refused to let anything take his mate away from him.  Overall I was satisfied with the story and I am hoping the next book by Ms. Buffett in this series showcases these characters so we can follow their story.
