J.T. Cheyanne Spotlight!

After a lifetime of reading and at the suggestion of friends, J.T. finally put fingers to keys and started writing her own stories. It’s been a wildly amazing ride full of tears, exhilaration and plain old hard work. Thankfully, her three beautiful children support her craziness and encourage her to continue something she loves. While she does write solo stories, she thrives on the work she does with V.L. Moon, her writing partner and fiance. What a small world it is indeed Mr. Disney when a small town girl from Alabama can find and write with a big city girl from England. What a ride it has been and continues to be!

As I sit here tapping my chin trying to think what to write and staring at a bigger than life wall portrait of my favorite vampire, Lachi Denali (my beautiful V.L. Moon sent it to me – thank you, baby!), it occurs to me that I know the answer to one of the questions Crystal posed. If I could be any paranormal creature, what would I be…DUH CHEYANNE…*this is where I Gibbs’ smack myself*…I would be a vampire.  I’d probably be a bit squeamish at the blood sucking thing except I wouldn’t be human anymore right, so I’d probably be okay with it. Problem solved. *nods* I don’t want to be a sparkly vampire either. I want to be the super smexy, leather wearing, fang bearing, voluptuous (hey we’re living in fantasy right, it’s MY dream and I get teased about my flat ass all the time – winks at V.L.) …okay so where was I…oh yeah…the curvy, leather wearing, hawt, BIOTCH vampire.  That’s what I want to be.
First order of business would be convincing my V.L. she wants to be a vampire, too. See, she likes the wolf shifters, the pack mentality and the orgy of pack sleeping. Okay, yeah wolves choose one mate for life, and they are only sleeping, but like I told her. They have fleas! Or, at least the potential to have them, right? I mean they do have fur and all. Uh oh! Now she’s giving me the evil eye. Wolves are great. Wonderful. But, they can’t take down a vampire. Nope, no way. Vampires are the top of the food chain. Power, speed, intelligence, SEX. You’re gonna be a vamp, too, V.L. ‘cause I can’t live forever with my girl by my side.
Now for the really hard part, writing a review. Although I’m a author, these review things scare me. I’ve been at the receiving end of good ones and nasty ones. Something my dad always told me growing up has gotten me through the nasty ones…Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one…*laughing* yeah he’s not as politically correct as Forrest Gump’s mama. Anyway, I added my own spin to the end…and some of them stink worse than others. *shrugs* Whatever helps fight the negativity true.
Okay so I got off topic, where’s my editor when I need one? Review. Focus.
I just finished Ever After by Kim Harrison. It’s the latest book in her series The Hollows. The series revolves around Rachel Morgan, who thought she was a witch, but isn’t, and her happy collection of friends. Jenks is my favorite character followed closely by Al, the demon. Jenks is a pixie, four inches tall and more fearsome than any normal sized person, witch, demon or elf. Yup, all of those are in there. So are vampires and fairies and wolves and gargoyles.
In this installment, the Ever After, where the demons live, is shrinking and it’s Rachel’s fault. Or, that’s what someone wants the demons to believe. If you’ve read the series from the beginning, this story is a dynamic continuation that will leave you both heartbroken and a bit put out. Some hoped for a certain pairing; however, things conspire once again to keep Rachel and the enigmatic Trent from hooking up. But, that door is not fully closed.
Rachel manages to save the day as she usually does but the ride to the end is bumpy and twisted. Once again, I mention the heartbreak. So did not see it coming and sat with mouth agape and tears in my eyes. As always, Jenks delivers the humor and Bis, the juvenile gargoyle, comes into his own. I would give it a solid four out of five stars.
If you haven’t read the series start at the beginning and catch up. I’d love to know what you think and who your favorite character turns out to be. If you have read it, who do you abso love and would you rather see Rachel with Al or Trent?  I really prefer Al. For some reason, I genuinely like that warped demon.

A pulse of light preceded the gift of life breathed into the coldest and darkest of souls. Bathed in the glow of celestial love and swathed in a blanket of black satin wings nestled a king among kings, a vampire born to destroy the decay threatening to eradicate the race he was destined to save.

An angelic heart torn by yearning, suffering and pain throbbed to the rhythm of the life he created; a life prophesied in the scriptures by the Creator’s own hand. A vow of servitude given in blood sealed the fate of a Seraphim's heart and tied it eternally to the creation he craves, protects…loves.

Ancient treaties are lost and reborn, rising from the ashes as the Nephilim ravage the vampire race. The deviant desire that soared in Malachi Denali's blood threatens to bring Rome to its knees when Malachi's world, his soul and his heart are brutally shattered and torn apart.

Will purity born of an angel's love be enough to calm the savage mind of Malachi Denali? Or will Laziel be doomed to a life of purgatory for loving the life he was gifted to create…

This is not a HEA, or even a HFN....Who knows what will happen to seal their fate...only time will tell. Vampires, angels, demons and wolves together with love, betrayal, sadness and yearning make up the ongoing story that is...

The Crimson Nights Saga.
**********************************************

A soul divided by race and hate due to his breeding, a bloodline born of angelic purity and driven by his vampire lust for blood, Tyrian is a half breed from a union forbidden and feared. He is rescued as an infant by a Guardian's guide, Daira, who stows him away safely hidden within a valley hidden from the depravity and misconceptions of man and shrouded by mists. In the valley far from humans and among others of different breeds, Tyrian learns that even in the sanctuary with the Guardians, Fate continues to rule his life.

Jaral, loyal Guardian and warrior of his race, accepts the duty of Tyrian's protection. Only, he crosses the forbidden barrier and falls in love with his ward. Although he fights his attraction and love for his charge, Jaral is unable to withstand the desire Tyrian stirs within him. Desperate to ensure Tyrian remains untainted, he faces his Elders and the punishment he is sure to receive.

As Tyrian’s and Jaral’s lives become perilously entwined only the bond of love and an eternity spent within the mist shrouded valley could keep their world from shattering apart. As Jaral's fate as a Guardian hangs in the balance, danger presents itself in the form of two vampires intent on Tyrian's death. Will Fate intervene and grant them a life in the Mists?

  1. Hi JT! I love the Rachel Morgan series too but I haven't read Ever After yet. I have to admit I am getting tired of the who will she end up with drama... I just want somebody to be picked already so she can kick some ass to keep him....I love Jenks & Al is awesome. While I have been hoping it would be Trent she would end up with but Al would be......You know I may have just changed my mind

  5. Crimson Reign was such an awesome book and I can't wait for the next installment.. Waiting patiently (or trying to anyways.) Tyrian's Mist was a great one too. That one broke my heart in a few places. I haven't read anything by Kim Harrison but I'll have to put her on my TBR list.

    1. Hi Jennivie darlin *big hugs* I love this series. I don't genuinely enjoy a first person/one character POV but its so well written and full of humor. LOVED it when Rachel had to make Jenks big ...6 foot 4 inches ...and had to keep reminding herself he was married with 54 kids. Pixies are apparently very prolific *winks*. And Jenks with his his "Tink's titties" curses. You'll love it.

  7. Hi Bobbi! I was playing around as a role player and got drafted/volunteered to write an independent character. Another author took notice and contacted me via a friend. The author encouraged me to write my own book and my role play writing group chimed in. When my V.L. added her encouragement and then agreed to write with me, it was a sealed deal. I love it. Awesome question and thank you for commenting!
