** CAN BE READ AS A STAND ALONE NOVEL**
Kayden Michaels has a past filled with sex, addiction, and heartache. A past that he’s avoided sharing with the love of his life, Sophia, and held close to his core not risking rejection. Needing to get his addictions in check and gain control of his life for the sake of his family, Kayden is forced to confront his past and make amends for the path he’s walked.
Kayden must recount every carnal act and the betrayal from those he’s loved to identify the triggers that spur his addictions and overcome it all to be worthy of Sophia’s love – his sole reason to exist.
This is NOT a novella.

Kayden The Past is a very quick
read, especially if you read her first book Untangle Me, simply because falling
in love with Kayden in the first book, you are starved to see why he is the way
he is. I couldn’t put the book down last night. All of the whys we
were left with in the first book was answered with this one. You don’t
have to worry about her retelling events from the Untangle Me, this isn’t a go
back over the history from his POV while he was with Sophia, this was his story
BEFORE Sophia. We now see just how remarkable Sophia’s love was for him,
she was able to save him from his dark history.
It reads as if he were writing a
journal of his life, trying to seek the answers for himself as to why he ended
up the way he did. There were no excuses or lame attempts to save his
reputation; he admitted his mistakes with honesty and clarity. Kayden started
out like any teenage boy, pushing the limits, taking risks, thinking he would
live forever and nothing was out of reach, till the first rug was pulled out
from under him, his parents’ divorce. After that it was just one bad choice
after another. Some you can shake your head and say Kayden what were you
thinking, but some appeared to be the right choice at the time. That
maybe there was true love involved, only for him to get his heart broken and
his confidence shattered.
Seeing how his first engagement and
his first marriage ended for him, it made more sense to me as to why he treated
Sophia the way he did at times. His drug use became clearer to me as I
read about his past. The author finally allowed us to see the broken man,
addictions, heart breaks, disappointments, failed attempts at trying to
recover, we saw the real Kayden in the raw. Sure he used women for sex,
some he was “punished” for by losing jobs, getting beat up, it was risky but
that was the way he found to cope. He experienced more loss than an
engagement and marriage. Some turned their back on him when he was a
young adult, when he needed them most, they walked away. One he lost to
death before he even had a chance to get to know them. He knew loss, he
knew disappointment, he knew crushing heart break, but he never fully gave up.
What I found amazing is after seeing the real man, instead of being
disappointed in him; I found I grew to love him even more. It also made
me even happier that he found Sophia. He has a charming personality in
the first book that gets lost sometimes due to his decisions and actions, but
now I see it was a victory for him to even give love yet another chance.
He deserved Sophia, as much as she deserved him.
I kept thinking as I was reading
this book, would it have made a difference to me if this would of come out
first instead of Untangle Me……………I think we wouldn’t of given him a
chance. We would have written him off as a bad character not worth
saving. The author was brilliant to let us see where he ended up first,
then his journey to get to this point. It made the life he finally found
in the first book mean more to us when we saw what he overcame to get there.
This series is a story of second and even third chances, redemption at
its truest form. We see what love and betrayal to do a person, where it
leads them and we also see what we can accomplish when we allow ourselves to
trust in another just one more time. As I stated I couldn’t put this book
down once I started it, yes I am exhausted this morning after staying up to
late to read, but it was so worth it. I really recommend you get both
books and read Untangle Me first, see the Kayden we fell in love with before
you see his journey.
“Hey,
where ya going?” she asked. “What about me?”
“I’m
sure someone here would be happy to give you what you want. I got what I was
looking for, babe.”
“You
had me suck your cock and you’re just going to fucking leave me here?” she
asked glaring at me with hatred so pure I could almost feel the fist she wanted
to hit me with.
“I got
what I came for. You were a total bitch to me for years; you don’t deserve what
I’d give, how good I’d fuck you,” I said with my arms crossed against my chest.
“You’re
a total cocksucker, Kayden,” she said poking me in the chest with each word to
drive the point home.
“No,
that would be you, babe,” I said with a smile, “Oh, and by the way, you have a
little on your chin,” I said pointing at her face chuckling softly at the
situation. I watched as she wiped her chin and I turned and walked away,
leaving her there like she deserved.

I love to read, I can devour a book a day, when given the chance or having the time. I can't pick one favorite book, there are just too many that come to mind. I do have favorite authors though. My top five authors are: Colleen Hoover, S.C. Stephens, Tarryn Fisher, CJ Roberts, and Kele Moon. I agonized over the top five. There are so many fantastic Indie authors that help feed my quest for the next best story.
Writing has been a journey unlike; filled with anguish, love, fear, and creativity. I'm excited for the next step and to share Kayden and Sophia.
