Rage by Pace & Coons

Phillip Kersey finds himself and his hotheaded girlfriend, Stephanie, at a crossroads. He's the singer of the chart-topping rock band, Fury, and they're forever in the studio laying down tracks for their third album. Steph's photography career has exploded. She's always on location and out of his grasp. Tired of Skype dates and stolen weekends, Phillip makes plans to whisk her off to Ireland so he can pop the question.

When Steph returns to the U.K. for the birth of their friends' baby, Phillip finally gets his chance. He's down on one knee when tragedy strikes. Aching hearts cause tempers to flair chaotically out of control. Phillip feels pushed aside and vanishes. Assumptions and accusations follow, and the public fallout between them becomes the stuff of legend.

When fate brings both Fury and Stephanie to a remote Brazilian paradise, the former lovers have no choice but to face each other head on. Will their wildfire chemistry burn down the wall between them, or will the tumultuous pair simply go up in flames?

Follow up books are always tough, especially if you liked the first book.  The good news is, “Rage” was definitely a great follow up to “Fury”.  ANGST, people!
This book pretty much picks up where Fury left off (if you haven’t read Fury, read it before reading this book!).  Philip and Steph are pass-me-the-cookies-so-I-can-toss-them in love, even though they do a lot of fighting (remember, it’s the angst!).  Philip is ready to pop the big question when…something tragic happens.  You’re not sure what, but you have an idea (though, as in typical fashion for these authors, it’s not a predictable tragedy).  Then all of the sudden, it’s 11 months later.  Philip and Steph are forced together in and have no choice but to confront their demons.  Can they work it out or will the past destroy them?
I have to say, I’m all for girl power and all, but the women in this book really peeved me off.  I mean, they –especially Steph—make some choices that I don’t understand at all.  Don’t get me wrong, the men had their moments.  Philip needs to take a freakin’ chill pill.  But for once I actually found myself understanding the frustration of the men!  Holy crap, ladies!  Communication!!!!
The story is a pretty good follow-up, though.  We’re re-acquainted with the characters from Fury, and I always enjoy a little peek into the characters’ lives further down the timeline.   I think this is a satisfying continuation of the original story, and once I got past all the craziness and could breathe again, it was a story that made an impression on me.  I’d definitely recommend this series, if you haven’t read it already. You can’t go wrong with sexy rock stars, even when the women they love are a bit loco.  4.5 stars.
