This short story combines the sharp dialogue and gallows humor of hardboiled fiction with the graphic intensity of hardcore horror.
To kill
or not to kill, that is the question. In
Mark’s story, The Killing Question, his main character is caught with that
question. Now unlike his story that I reviewed
previously, this is not a romance in anyway.
This story is one that although it is violent in nature, it shows in a
sense something that every person has thought about at one point.
The
details that Mark includes in his story, even going as deep as the way that the
man’s breath smells, it carries onto the rest of the story. One of the things that I did like about this story
was when the Jack was faced with the question; he didn’t jump for the money
right away. When he was first searching
for the man, he did not plan on killing him.
Although
this book is graphic, and not for the weak of heart, I think this story shows
something that many people have thought about in their lives.
