HIM, By Carey Heywood Blog Tour!!

Sarah Miller hasn’t been home in seven years. She thought she could stay away forever. If it wasn’t for her big brother's wedding, that is. Part of her even feels silly for staying away this long. It's not like anyone even knew what happened. Well, except for him.

That guy. The one she compared all others to. The one who set the bar so high no other guy after him could even compete. The one who made her feel like anything was possible. The one she thought she would never be good enough for. The one she spent the last seven years trying to forget.
All she needs to do is make it through the next week without running into him.

Review Time:

Crystal's Review:

There have been quite a few off the wall titles, but with this title HIM you have to wonder what the book will be about.  Trust me, when I saw the title HIM, I wanted to read this book.  Didn’t care what the blurb said, I just wanted it because of the title.  Well that and my friend Miranda kept going on about this book!  You have to love friends who recommend books.

This book was completely different than any that I have read recently and I think it’s a great change from my normal.  My mama always tells me that simple is better, and that is the case with this book.  It’s a simple romance, a love story that isn’t really a love story.  A book that will draw you into the story and it will leave you wanting for more and more with each page that you turn.

I usually don’t like books that do the “flashbacks” because it takes a really good author to be able to write them really well.  With this book though, I think that Carey did an amazing job.  There wasn’t anything that made the story confusing; it was very easy to follow what was going on with the characters.

Rumor has it as well, that there will be a squeal to this book, HER, and usually I don’t like reading books that are told from the other characters perspective because it is just a lot of repeats of what happened in the first book.  However, with the way Carey wrote HIM, you can bet your buns that I will be waiting to read HER.

Overall, if you are looking for a gentle romance that will work its way into your heart, this is the book for you.

Sara's Review:

Who has two thumbs and loves a sweet story about first love, loss and second chances?  This girl! *points thumbs at chest*

I really didn’t know what to expect from “Him”.  I knew it would be a love story, but I guess what I didn’t expect was for it to go so deep.  It’s written through alternating flashbacks and present day scenes, and I found that to be intriguing and engrossing.  I had a hard time putting the book down because I had to see what the big thing was that chased Sarah away that night so long ago!  Since you get to see the progress of their relationship before it was even really a relationship, you get really invested in it.  I know I did.  This was definitely one of those books that had me yelling at my kindle and giving virtual slaps to characters.  Don’t judge, I was invested.
Now for Will.  Oh…Will.  As if I needed another book boyfriend to be obsessed with.  Will is attentive, funny, kind, and irrevocably in love with Sarah.  In fact, he never stopped loving her, which I found to be heartbreaking and wonderful.  He’s just a very well developed and lovable character…we need more Wills in the world.
My one critique of this book is that as I was nearing the end, I felt it was pretty obvious this is not a standalone book.  The seeds of discontent were definitely being sown, obviously leading into more to this story.  Maybe I’m just a sucker for a HEA, but it’s a bit annoying to me when books are so obviously set up for one or two more books when it’s clear they don’t need to be.  Even so, I really loved this story, I’m sure I will love the next book or books in this series, and I can’t wait to read them.  The next book, “Her”, will be out in November.  I give this book 4 stars.
