Brayden and Maggie have been dating for four years. Maggie is ready and
expecting an engagement ring. Brayden has a past full of weaknesses and
mistakes he can’t seem to shake. As he slowly loses everything, he also loses
Maggie.
As his world unravels, can he find the strength to shake his inner demons? Does
he have it in him to face the ghosts of his past? Can Maggie overcome his
deceptions? Will they find a way to love and trust again? Can their love
and relationship be salvaged?
Maggie
I
thought for a moment. Actually she is
right. My dad is who I need to talk to
right now.
I call
and he answers on the second ring, “Hello Princess.”
I
immediately cry, “Oh daddy, everything is a mess.”
I take
a few seconds to compose myself. I give
my dad the run down on everything with Brayden.
He remains silent.
“Daddy, are you still there?” I finally say.
“Yes,
Princess, always,” he begins, "I don’t know what to say to you that will
make any of this any easier.”
He
sighs, “My precious daughter, your head is going to tell you that it is over,
and he is no good for you. Your head is
going to tell you to walk away. My
princess, your heart on the other hand is going to hold on to hope. Your heart will ask you to love
unconditionally and help him to change.”
“So,”
I ask, “which one do I listen to, my head or my heart, Daddy?”
“That
is not for me to answer. Time will show
you which way to go, Princess. As your
dad, I want to hurt Brayden for hurting you.
As a man, who has made more than enough of his own mistakes, I want to
see the two of you overcome this.” He
pauses, but continues, “Princess, just take some time and take things slow, one
day at a time, and if that is too hard, take it one hour at a time. We will be out to visit in two weeks to take
your mind off of things, okay?”
I find comfort in this, “I can’t wait to see
you Daddy, I love you.” And with that we
both hang up.
Chelsea Camaron was born
and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern
Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina
day dreaming.
Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let
fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was
going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her
own advice. Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from
that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which
just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series.
Her love for reading
has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in
the works. When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing
with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of
her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any
movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in.
She hates being serious and is
still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and,
Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to
embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the
simple things in life and how to always have fun.
