Candace Tapers’ life finally takes an upward swing when Nathan Dumont, shipping heir and notorious playboy, sweeps her away to a lifestyle of wealth and privilege. But that life comes with strings, and she is soon pulled in directions she never expected, discovering secrets and ulterior motives in the man who shares her bed.
*The Dumont Diaries was originally released, and is still available as a four-part miniseries. This book combines the four pieces of the miniseries into one, full-length novel.
When there are reviews that say a book as “too much” sex and
is “repulsive”, that’s almost a challenge to me to buy the book…so thank you,
uptight people of the world! This book,
I am happy to report, is neither repulsive nor overly sexed. In fact, it’s in the goldilocks zone of
erotica to me, because it’s just right.
Cassandra is working in a seedy “men’s club” when she meets
Nathan Dumont. This proverbial “Knight
in Shining Armor with a wad of cash” offers her an escape from her life and her
problems, so she leaves with him. She
agrees to marry him and basically be his trophy wife and sexual plaything. Sounds great, right? Well, it kind of is for her. I mean, Nathan is a brooding and kind of
jerkish man (I’m deeming jerkish a word), but he has his reasons. He is alpha, he is rich, he is hot and he’s a
manimal in the bedroom. This mama
likey. What I really didn’t expect from
this book was the fact that it’s a bit of a clandestine tale. Cassandra, while left alone at home, begins
to unravel the mystery that is her husband.
If Nancy Drew were a stripper/trophy wife, this would be her story!
If I had to characterize this story to help you understand
the feel of it, I would say it’s kind of like a Cinderella/Pretty Woman story
for a stripper. I really found myself
involved in this book and it was a really quick read for me. There’s so much mystery surrounding Nathan
and his life, you just have to find out all about it! There is a lot of sex, but people…it’s an
erotic novel. If there wasn’t a lot of
sex, I’d feel ripped off!
I did think that the beginning was a bit slow. This isn’t one of those stories that just
grabbed me from the first paragraph; it took me a bit to get into it. It was completely worth it though. It’s dark and intense and a very well done
wild ride. I give it 4 stars!
