What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need?
Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.
With his fighting career in full swing, he's on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.
He won’t let that happen. Not again.
Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.
Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.
She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.
Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.
Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

Or will they be left Fighting to Forgive?
Whenever I read a book by a new author that blows me away,
I’m a little apprehensive going into their follow up book. I mean, let’s face it, sometimes it’s a fluke
that a book is just SO freakin’ good you can’t stop thinking about it. I’m happy to say, JB’s first book was
certainly not a fluke, because “Fighting to Forgive” may be even better than
the first!
This is Blake’s book.
If you’ve read “Fighting for Flight” then you know who Blake is and you
love him. For those of you that don’t
know Blake, you really need to ask yourselves why you don’t know him. WHY???
“Fighting for Flight” is an awesome MMA romance…but back to Blake. He’s a smartass; doesn’t have a care in the
world, or so it would seem. He’s just
all about being the best, both in the bedroom and in the octagon. There’s so much more to Blake, I knew it
during the first book, and I was happy to have it settled in this
installment. Blake has a heart, and
Layla is the one who draws it out in him.
Layla is leaving a bad marriage with a teenage daughter, and isn’t
looking for a new man in her life. She
begins working at Blake’s training center and the sparks fly from there, both
in and out of the bedroom.
I really expected a lot from Blake, I have to just put that
out there. I knew that under that
devil-may-care exterior lay a man with a heart of gold. I wasn’t wrong. Blake meets Layla and things just seem to
click into place for him. Layla is his
perfect counterpart. She’s a bit
vulnerable, but underneath it all is strong.
What I loved so much about the first book by JB was the character
development. You really got in there
with the characters, and it was easy to understand their motivations throughout
the book. Plus, the build up between the
characters, though it may be short, is electric. In this book, she continues that trend. The chemistry between Blake and Layla is
undeniable. It draws you into their
story and makes the book a real page turner.
I finished this book in less than a day; I have a feeling most of you
lovely readers will as well.
Another thing the author managed to accomplish
was to tell a very nuanced and complex story.
The characters, as well as the plot, have a lot of depth. It’s not a simple story, as Layla is a
survivor of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, who has more to do with the
story than it first appears. I can’t say
that by the time it all came to together I was all that surprised, but it was
an excellent plot with a lot of action.
And the sex…yeah, it’s pretty steamy.
Winning!Overall, I thought this was a great book. I really hope there are more books about the characters we have met, because I have a fondness for them all, and I’m interested in how their story turns out. This book has great characters, an interesting plot and a quality about it that makes you unable to walk away from the story without finishing it. Quite simply, it’s a good book. 4.5 stars!
