Synopsis
Sadie is thriving in her new life and taking every moment to enjoy her new freedom. After a failed marriage that changed everything she knew to be true, she gets the courage to start over on her own. Sadie’s world quickly changes from her new normal when one night she gets pulled over by the most gorgeous police officer she’s ever met.
Feeling optimistic about opening up again, she hopes that begins with Officer Stevens. He’s protective, sweet and seemingly trustworthy. She wonders if her past will ever allow her to get close to someone again. Her friends keep telling her how much she finally deserves to be happy. Will their chance meeting give her an opportunity to find out how fulfilling true love really should be? She wants to put her past to rest and move on, but will she finally allow herself to trust him when she feels like her life might be in danger?
By now, I’m assuming you all know how I feel about police
officers in general. Well, any man in
uniform, really. They’re hot. Really hot.
They could wear short-shorts and white tube socks and I would still
think they’re hot. As you can imagine, I
started this book with gusto.
Sadie has been through a lot. She has had a failed marriage to a bad man
that really impacted her, but is working hard to embrace her new found freedom
and begin anew. She gets pulled over by
handsome (of course!) police officer Parker Stevens. This seemingly random event leads to more and
blooms into a relationship, and Sadie must confront if she is indeed ready to
move on and trust again.
I have to say, this book lead me someplace I didn’t expect
from the outset. It’s part sweet love
story and part mystery/thriller. Sadie’s
life is threatened and she must learn to trust Parker, who is trying to keep
her safe. It was an exciting read and a
page turner.
This book does have that insta-love element to it. It actually does work pretty well in this
story, as the characters develop soundly and the story has a good buildup and
pace. The characters are well-adjusted
people, which I found refreshing. The
angst in this story comes from an outside source, not some silly
misunderstanding between the main characters.
It wasn’t a predictable story at all. The thriller storyline involving Sadie’s
abusive ex-husband is quite exciting. I
had a hard time putting this book down until it was finished.
This is this author’s debut novel, and it’s quite
impressive. I didn’t feel that it was
formulaic or predictable. It will keep
you engaged and excited and satisfy the romantic in you. At its heart, it’s just a sweet love story.
With a hot cop. 4 stars.

I slipped my tank top over my head and pulled it down as I caught a glimpse of the scar that stretched across the left side of my lower stomach. It triggered a memory of who I thought I would be forever; a useless piece of someone’s property.
