When the
self-righteous, millionaire bachelorette, Dallas Knox walks into
Hattiesburg’s largest night club she is looking for one thing – a one
night stand with no strings attached. What she doesn’t expect is to find
herself at the mercy of the Devil’s Renegades Motorcycle Club and their
President-Luke Carmical.
Luke is dangerous, sexy, and dark. The life he lives is far different from the privileged life Dallas is accustomed to.
Can she accept the lifestyle of an MC?
Can she handle the domineering nature of Luke?
Or is it too late to save Dallas from the path she has chosen…

This book introduced a new and original concept for me: the
alpha female. We’ve all read books with
alpha males, sure, but this one not only had the alpha male, but the alpha
female too. It makes for quite an
interesting interaction between the H/h in this book, let me tell ya.
Dallas is rich and used to getting what she wants. She goes to a club one night in order to find
a hot piece to take home for an evening of the horizontal mambo when she meets
Luke. Luke is not like any other man she
has met. He’s a badass President of a
Motorcycle Club and he gives just as good as he gets. Thus begins a pretty intriguing tale murder
and general mayhem, with a few lies thrown in for good measure.
What I liked about this book were the characters. Dallas is pretty kick-ass, and in a book
world dominated by women who aren’t strong and resilient, Dallas is definitely
in a league of her own. And Luke was everything
I like in a leading man. Sexy, strong, a
little bit naughty (ok, a lot naughty) and fierce.
The concept of the plot had a lot of potential, but I just
didn’t feel it was executed very well.
There were several times I got a bit confused about events that took
place, so much so that I had to go back and re-read passages. Plus, there were some things that didn’t quite
make sense to me. There are some questions surrounding the thriller mystery
aspect to the plot that left me scratching my head, because the characters
didn’t seem overly concerned for most of the book that someone was trying to
kill Dallas. I would find that a wee
bit concerning. And by wee bit, I mean a
lot.
Overall, even with some of the more questionable aspects of
the book, I enjoyed reading it. I will
warn you that it has a rather abrupt cliffhanger ending. If I didn’t have the second book to delve
right into, I’m not so sure how I would have taken this. As it stands, I give this book 3 stars.
She went searching for a
one night stand and ended up falling in love with Luke Carmical,
President of the Devil’s Renegades Motorcycle Club. Now she must decide
how to handle the aftermath of Frankie’s brutal assault and the
knowledge that Luke has been lying to her- about everything. Secrets are
revealed and more lies exposed as Dallas Knox, CEO of Knox Companies,
becomes more involved in the MC. She wonders if this life is enough for
her, if this family is really what she wants. When circumstances present
her with an unusual twist of fate, Dallas knows without a doubt,
thatthis is the family she has longed for. New problems occur, traumatic
events take place and lives hang in the balance as Dallas has to decide
what is really most important in life.
The journey is long.
The outcome is uncertain.
Can she Make the Cut?
The journey is long.
The outcome is uncertain.
Can she Make the Cut?
This book pretty much starts off right where Saving Dallas
ended. Dallas must decide if she can
move forward with Luke after what she has discovered. Is the life with the MC what she really wants? Can she trust Luke with her heart? How many times can one have sex standing up
against the wall or in the shower (not enough would be the correct
answer)? These questions, and more, make
up the bulk of this second installment.
I will say I was happy that Dallas’ character was true to
life in this book. She flips out. Flips. Out.
I say, any woman faced with what she does deserves a major flip
out. So, kudos to Dallas. Let that freak flag fly, honey. As with the first book, I liked Dallas quite
a bit. I felt a bit let down by the
other characters in this book, however. They
just seemed to pale in comparison, and didn’t seem strong enough to really
challenge her character. Also, this book
had a rushed feeling to it. I didn’t get
the resolution that I was hoping for after reading the first, as far as the
character development went. I thought
that Luke could have been a bit deeper, but he just seemed so hot and cold
towards Dallas. It is my opinion that
it’s difficult to do an alpha male justice, because there’s a thin line between
alpha and asshole. Luke veers very close
to asshole territory and even crosses into it a few times in this book. I didn’t understand his motivations
completely and found him to be a bit confusing.
Now, ladies and any gents who may be reading this, the sex
in this book is…awesome. I will give it
that. I’m a big fan of the sexy time in
romance novels, and if a book could be rated on the sex scenes alone, this
would be a five star read. The sex is
superb. The rest of the book needs some
work. 3 stars.
Kim Jones is a
writer with big dreams and a creative imagination. Her infatuation with the MC
lifestyle inspired her to write a short story about a love affair between a
prestigious young woman and a bad-ass biker. After falling in love with her
characters, she turned the ten-thousand word short story into a novel. Juggling
her full time job as a payroll clerk, her writing, and her role as ol’lady to
her husband, Reggie, her first novel, Saving Dallas, was published in May of
2013.
Kim resides in
Collins, MS with her husband and two dogs. She plans to write three books in
the Saving Dallas series. The final book will be released in early 2014.
