Stalking and
restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA
newly in hand, she has her future figured out—move up at the nightclub
she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive
love disorder. A perfect plan.
But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous—the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it.
Avoiding him isn’t an option after he offers a business proposition she can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.

Oh, oh, oh…peeps.
This book. THIS BOOK! There’s part of me that loves it, and there’s
part of me that hates it. Read on to find out why!
Alayna becomes obsessed with things, namely men. She is fresh out of her MBA program and is
determined not to continue old patterns.
But of course, because this is the universe we live in, Hudson Pierce
shows up. They are two very broken
people, but it could be possible that their brokenness cancels out the others
and they actually are perfect for one another…or not.
First of all, Alayna…I’m just not sure how I feel about
her. She has some endearing qualities,
but all in all she is the kind of woman I avoid in real life. I mean, she’s a bit psycho. Like, restraining order psycho. Not my bag, baby. Though, interesting twist in the genre of
romance…she’s not some blushing virgin who doesn’t go after what she
wants. I mean, sure, she may go after it
illegally, but she still goes after it.
I can admire that in a very weird way.
Now Hudson…he’s hot.
He commands a room just by walking into it hot. He’s rich, he’s alpha…he’s a little bit
badass. And he claims to be impenetrable
to love. How do you think that works out
for him?
Now for the good stuff…the sex! OH my.
The chemistry between these two is tangible even when they’re just
sitting in a room together. That’s the
kind of stuff I like to read about in my romance novels! This book is completely hot, and is worth reading
just for the sex itself. Trust me, this
is my area of expertise…or sexpertise!
HA!
Consider yourself warned, however, that this is a trilogy,
so the story doesn’t end here for Alayna and Hudson. Personally, I’m a bit sick of this, but
overall, the story was good and I will definitely be reading the next one. And
kudos to the author for not ending the book with a maddening cliffhanger. 4 stars.
I moved to the door and placed my hand on the knob. But
Hudson’s palm pressed on the top of the door, holding it closed and trapping me
between him and the wall.
He lowered his head to my ear. “Wait, Alayna.” His breath
tickled and burned simultaneously. I closed my eyes, taking it in, bearing it.
“I apologize for overwhelming you. That wasn’t my intent. But I want you to
know that whether or not you decide to help with my situation, I will continue
to seduce you. I’m a man who gets what he wants. And I want you.”
Um, holy wow.
Turned on did not begin to describe how his statement made
me feel.
Then his mouth was on me, nibbling at my earlobe. I drew in
a sharp breath. Involuntarily, I let my head roll to the side, granting him
better access.
And, man, did he take what I gave, nipping a trail
down my neck, sending ripples of desire through my belly. I moved my hand off
the doorknob and grabbed his arm to steady myself. He curled his other arm
around me, his hand settling on my breast. I gasped at the contact, leaning in
to his touch.
He kneaded my breast as he nuzzled his face in my hair. “I
should have told you earlier,” he said softly. “You look absolutely beautiful
tonight. I can’t keep my eyes off you. Serious and sexy wrapped into one
package.” He pressed against me and I could feel his erection at my lower back.
“Kiss me, Alayna.”
It was so hot how he used my name freely. As if it was his
to use. And in many ways it was. Almost no one called me anything but Laynie.
He’d claimed my name when he claimed me.
All that was left was for me to accept it.
USA Today Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for
a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the
embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain,
however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably
singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She
is represented by the wonderful Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
