**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**
~DEE~
I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.
But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me again.
All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self-right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.
So I did the only thing I know how to do.
I run.
But he just won’t let me go.
~BECK~
The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out.
To make her mine.
She can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop me from coming after her.
She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.
Tbird's Thoughts:
Harper
has once again given us an awesome book from the Corp Security series. I
fell in love with this series, with Axel, Cage and now Beck how can you not be
addicted? We have a chance to meet Dee in the Cage book, we know that
there is something going on deep inside this woman. With Beck we get the
full story. Harper's books are always so hard to review, there is so much
of the story I want to talk about but I don't want to risk giving you spoilers
that will take away from the adventure you are about to go on with this series.
While
Dee is a strong woman, old baggage and skeletons from her life leave her
vulnerable to be destroyed easily. She hides behind the mask of always
being happy and pleasant to keep people from intruding in on her secrets she
holds close. Beck has the natural ability to see when someone is holding
out or not being totally open and honest. These two can be an explosive
match not only emotionally but sexually as well.
Dee
has already decided that men are a weapon life uses to destroy women. Events
that surround Dee and her friends cause her to close herself off again, so his
work is cut out for him. I personally have fallen in love with every man
in the CS, so it was natural for me to want Beck to win her love back. He
knows when she is with him, she is being real. She shares small pieces of
herself with Beck, but can he ever get her to fully trust him and let him in?
Harper
didn't give us a instant rebirth for Dee, it took a long time for her to come
to terms that maybe risks in love and life will give her what she longs for
most, love and acceptance. While we waited and rode the emotional roller
coaster with her, it was great to finally have the missing pieces of Dee's life
that we had been shielded from in the first two books. It gave us the
same feel that Beck must of had when he met her. Beck had to find a
balance of being there for her yet not smothering her with his alpha ways that
seem to come with each CS man involved in this series.
We
also have the other characters from the first two books back with Dee and Beck,
another thing I love about Harper's series, we never loose touch with those we
have grown to love. She is able to balance out the new story with each
book, while keeping it consistent with the other characters. Her talent
at developing characters that we fall in love with is supreme, her story lines
are intense and intriguing as well. Yes I was emotional at times with
this book but seriously have you read any of Harper's books? You learn to
expect that your heart is going to be twisted a thousand ways. She will
make you angry, panicked, sitting on the edge of your seat and sobbing because
she gave us people we invest in. I adore this series. I highly
recommend it to you readers.
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
