Heart Trouble by Jenny Lyn

Dr. Erin Taylor would rather be strapped to a gurney in her ER than prowling Jacksonville’s newest nightclub in a tight dress and high heels. Forced to do that very thing after losing a bet to a friend, she’s surprised by the sparks flying between her and sexy police detective Sean Rembert.

Sean is supposed to be scoping the bar for leads that might help him catch a serial killer, not letting his neglected libido lead him astray. But the minute he sees the gorgeous blonde headed his direction, all thoughts of work go out the window. Until he discovers Erin is a possible target.

Their connection is red-hot and undeniable, but Erin is in serious danger and Sean will do anything in his power to protect her. Passion explodes between them, then a secret destroys it. Can they overcome the hurt and resentment to find their way back to each other before the killer closes in?

This was a short, but very hot and gripping read.  Dr. Erin Taylor is very work-oriented homebody.  She loses a bet with friends and has to dress up and go out to a club.  This is where she meets Detective Sean Rembert, and the sparks really start to fly.  He’s an equally driven, career-oriented guy, but neither one of them can deny the attraction between them.   Problem is that Erin has a secret, and Sean worries that she may be the next target of a serial rapist.  They grow close, but when Erin’s secret is revealed, it tears them apart.  Can they work it out?  Can Sean save Erin from being the next victim?
First off, I would pay the price asked for this book for the sex scenes alone.  They are super hot.  And they weren’t just a “wham-bam” kind of sex scenes either.  The author has a way of helping the reader to feel the chemistry and passion between the characters, which is what made them so great.  And Sean…oh, he is the epitome of badass alpha.  He has so much authority and command, but still a deep respect for Erin and her work.  He understands her, and to me that’s one of the best qualities of a BBF.
The suspense aspect to this book was awesome.  I was totally biting off all of my finger nails at one point, because I wasn’t sure how it was going to go.  It was tense, and had me devouring this book in one sitting.
Overall, I thought this was a great read.  Well-written and not too over the top, it was suspenseful and romantic.  4 stars.
