Misunderstood by Kathryn Kelly

John Donovan has been left in charge of the Death Dwellers' MC while the club president is on his honeymoon. With six days left till Outlaw's return and smooth sailing so far, trouble suddenly bubbles up. As the clock ticks, he's determined to bring everything under control.
Kendall Miller, an attorney and the ex-girlfriend of another MC president, is in deep problems. When her little sister is taken by her ex, she needs to supply information to a man who is frantic for information on the highest ranking members of Johnnie's club. When she suddenly shows up at the clubhouse and arouses the suspicions of a very handsome blond biker, she finds herself being taken as his prisoner.
Evil is all around them. To save herself and her sister, Kendall has to rely on the man she betrayed. To save his club, Johnnie has to trust Kendall's story. Before it's too late. Because lives will be lost and hearts will be broken.
WARNING: This isn’t an easy or light read. Please be advised. The way to Johnnie’s and Kendall’s resolution involves death, violence, destruction, a sexual assault scene and suicide.

I am notoriously hard on books like this.  There are so many MC books out there right now, as well as alpha badass males.  They are done often but rarely done well.  I would say this book, as was book one, is grittier than most.  It deals in heavy topics and is done well, but still failed to make me feel a connection to the characters.
This is the complicated story of Kendall Miller.  She attempted to infiltrate the Death Dwellers and hook up with their President, “Outlaw”, at his bachelor party in order to help free her sister from the clutches of an evil man by the name of Logan Donovan.  Problem is, instead of hooking up with Outlaw, she ends up hooking up with the VP of the club, John-Boy.  But Johnnie is unaware of her agenda, and when he is left in charge of the MC while the President and his new bride are on their honeymoon he is faced with some trouble from a rival MC it all comes out.  Will Kendall save her sister?  Will Johnnie and Kendall be able to find happiness together?
First of all, be warned that this is a very violent and extremely graphic book.  I thought it was much more graphic from the first book, which was tough to read at points.  I appreciate the book for its raw grittiness, and in that respect I think it’s true to the MC sub-genre.
My real problem with this book is the characters.  I liked Johnnie; he had a backbone and seemed to have a heart. It was really Kendall that rubbed me the wrong way.  She is an attorney, but for someone so educated she is truly stupid.  The choices she makes throughout the book had me just wanting to slap her upside the head.  I don’t want to give away any plot points, but she does one thing during the course of this book that totally killed any possibility of me ever liking her.  It’s tough, I know, but when you read it I hope you’ll know to what I’m referring.
The saving grace of this book is that it’s a very well told story.  Even though I didn’t care for most of the characters, I also found that I could not put the book down.  I had to see what happened.  Plus, there are flashbacks that help you to understand some of the backstory of the series better.  I liked that.
Overall, I did enjoy this book.  I found that I actually liked it better than the first book in the series, even if the heroine wasn’t so great.  3.5 stars.

I just finished Misunderstood and I loved it. This is apart of a series so you have to read this in order or trust me you will be so confused. Misled is Megan and Christopher's story and Misappropriate was a continuance but that lead to Kendall and Johnnie. In Misappropriate you find that Christopher and Megan are trying to get married and Christopher gets a bachelor party. A red headed bombshell tries to seduce Christopher and ends up making a fool of herself and Johnnie takes a liking to her and screws her brains out before sending her on her way and never really knowing what she was really doing there. In Misunderstood Johnnie still hung up on Megan and even though he is trying to let it go still thinks back to that night with the red head.  Meg and Chris are on their honeymoon and he is holding the fort down when miss red head shows up. There are so many secrets and even though she tries to deny them Johnnie knows and will do anything he can to find out.....Even if that means he has to kidnap her. What is a man like Johnnie supposed to do?  He wants but can't really have her and she is not the same girl. He has to get to the bottom of it before Chris comes back. You won't guess what happens so you will have to read and see..

Wow. What a story. Anything with bikers you just throw my way. I will just gobble it up. No doubt, I have had some doozies but this one was for me.  I can tell you now, what makes a biker story for me is the realness to it. I do not want rainbows and roses. No freaking way.  I gotta have the dirty gritty story for it to work for me.  Was there a few things I could have dealt without? Yes but I just skipped over them. I was confused at times because there was so much going but I'm ok with that. I mean no offense to the author at all, I just wanted to get to Johnnie.

Speaking of Johnnie, I love him. Dirty mouth and all!!  I'm gonna be honest. When I first read him in Chris's story I wanted more of Johnnie. No offense to Chris but there was just something about him. This was the one I was waiting for and man he didn't disappoint. He is sexy, yet loyal and just a good ole dirty boy!  Kendal for me was a weaker girl than what I expected. She was awesome at first but with what happens I get how she could change. She has a lot of insecurities and don't blame her for being at times the way she was.  I just wanted for her to get her backbone and I think towards the end she did but it may have not been at the ideal time!  Lol. One thing that is for sure is that Johnnie knows how to take care of Kendall. He can be very degrading to her but I get it. To me it was still freaking hot to read .

I loved getting to know the other characters and I cannot wait to see what happens with Val and Zoahnn and Mort and Bailey. The author definitely has a way of keeping the story going for me and I'm super excited that I got to read this.
