He was the perfect gentleman, and my parents adored him. In time, I learned to adore him too. I married him. He was my forever.
Until the day he hit me.
Five years went by with the speed of a ticking clock, counting down my life one painful second at a time.
Until Danny. Danny saw me. Danny was my hero.
Danny was the one I was supposed to be with.
But now I’m broken, shattered into pieces too jagged to fit back together.
Isn’t that what fate is? Puzzles fit together by an unseen hand to form a life worth living.
So when fate makes a mistake, who fixes it?

OMG
this was an awesome book. From the first page I knew this was going to be a
book that I would not be able to put down and I was right. Kinley is more
than an abused wife; she is a young woman whose world has been shattered by
lies and death. Meeting her husband at a young age she was under the impression
he was a gentleman. Her parents loved him and could see a great future
for their daughter with him. What no one knew was deep inside of his soul
lurked a monster who was only out for himself. When the abuse began
Kinley had already been beaten down by life and the marriage. When she is
spotted at the gym for her required ten mile run, she is offered a way out with
no strings attached. I loved how the author kept Kinley focused on her escape
long before Dan came along. Her tricks and quick thinking made me
instantly invested in Kinley and wanting her to find her freedom even
more.
Dan
has his own heart ache going on. He has a story that he tells Kinley as
to why he noticed her and is willing to help. It broke my heart to know he is
carrying around this guilt about the past and as I continued to read, his
future will be touched by the situation again. With his career taking
off, a personal issue of his own, he still wants to help her get out. He was
a man I could fall for instantly. When he would use rap music to calm her
down, take her calls no matter where he was to talk to her, those were
qualities that I adored. He wasn’t pushy, he took his time building a
friendship first but as the story goes on, his life comes crashing down and
Kinley is there to pick up the pieces for him.
I
really loved how this story kept evolving with new characters and situations,
all showing strength and the willingness to not be victims to other
people. When the author finally connects the dots for the readers it blew
my mind. She took something that was so crazy and wrote it in a way that
it made perfect sense and gave not only the characters but myself as a reader
closure. The love and devotion that this group of people had for each
other was a breath of fresh air. We see so many stories where the women
need to be rescued and protected. They are too afraid to fight back, to
defend themselves against the enemy, well not in this book. Kinley even
defended herself against those who were trying to save her. She had a
fire in her that wouldn’t be put out and when the truth came out regarding her
parents she handled the situation with courage.
I
will certainly be keeping an eye on this author for her upcoming books.
She gave us a story that will not only keep you interested it will change the
way you view helping others. If Dan hadn’t taken a chance, the lives of
so many would have been destroyed. As a country music fan I was in love
with the references to Luke Bryan and country music, it gave this story a more
personal touch for me as I could imagine the songs being played in the
background of the scene. There was humor and endearing moments between
Kinley and Dan that melted my heart and the author didn’t have to use sex to
sell this couple to us. Overall the author did a brilliant job with this
book and I have already recommended this book to my friends.

With water to my neck, I turn the faucet off and can hear
Danny splashing next door. “Are you done with your legs, too?” I ask him
teasingly.
“Just finishing up the bikini area. Do you prefer a heart,
or something a little more exotic?” he shoots right back, making me giggle.
“What does bottle five say for you?”
“Let’s see.” I hear glass clinking together. “It says . .
. place on face for ten minutes. When dry, rinse off, and apply jar six. This
is getting kind of ridiculous. I’ve never had to do this shit before,” Danny
says.
“We’ll see what we look like when we’re done. My skin
feels so smooth.”
“Yeah, mine too. I’m a facial away from losing my man
card. Oh wait, that’s jar five. There it went, flying off to some
well-deserving guy who’s eating a raw steak and roping a steer down the street.
I may have to move to Mexico to get it back. How do you feel about matadors?”
I burst out laughing as I apply the goopy mess in my jar
six to my face. “You can restore your card later. I’m sure there will be food
to shovel and beer to belch.”
“You don’t get the man card credo. It’s an application
process, Kinley. After all of these products, it could be months before I’m
worthy again,” he explains.
“That’s terrible. I had no idea all it took was a few
little jars.”
“Don’t underestimate the power of a good facial. I’m never
living this down . . . I think this is avocado.”
“Are you eating it? Danny!” I yell through my laughter.
“It’s good fats, Kinley. Remember? Anyway, it’s all your
fault,” Danny decides.
“How do you figure?”
“Well, I’m only in here to be close to you. This should
show you how committed I am,” Danny informs me.
“Thank you for sacrificing your manhood to show me you
care. That means a lot,” I joke.
I hear Danny sniff indignantly before he says, “As long as
you value my surrender, it’s all worth it.”
