Nighttime Wishes by MA Church

As a small child Shawn stood at his bedroom window staring above the tree line watching the odd shooting lights in the nighttime sky. Remembering his mom’s comment about making a wish upon a shooting star Shawn—there in the dead of night—made a wish.

This is the first book in the Nighttime Wishes series.  This book was very different than what I was expecting from the blurb, but that was not a bad thing! One of the main characters in particular, a Maz’Rarian warrior named Zaine, surprised me. I was not expecting him to have tentacles, but I think it was executed very well and made for some very hot lovin’! Some people may be a little put off by the extreme alpha male tendencies in Zaine, but I think his behavior is due to the fact that he is dealing with very strong emotions that he has no knowledge on how to process.

Overall this book was a great beginning to a series and a great introduction to a fascinating species of alien. While the book was a little short it had a sweet ending and an excellent setup for the second book in the series, which I can’t wait to read!
