BDSM club owner Adam
Kessler is no one’s hero. He joined the army to get away from the
gang-life that had taken his brother, only to come home to heartache. He
doesn’t hide his dominant side, and he doesn’t hesitate in his need to
protect or enforce his particular brand of retribution on those who’ve
earned it. There’s no way in hell he could walk past a man hassling a
woman in an empty parking lot and do nothing. Only when the
confrontation is over and the voluptuous blonde turns eyes filled with
desire to him, does Adam realize he’s in trouble.
Psychologist Olivia Lang grew up with the proverbial silver spoon, and has never regretted spending more time on her career than on romance, until she meets Adam Kessler. He’s dark, he’s dangerous, and he’s deliciously dominant… and she wants him.
Passion burns quick and hot between them and soon they’re caught up in an intensely carnal relationship that neither can deny. But when Olivia’s life is threatened and Adam shows her just how dangerous he can be, will it be too much for the civilized psychologist to handle, or will she truly accept the man and win her hero’s heart?

I struggled with the rating on this book, I would have given
it a 3.5 if I had the option but since it did grab my attention from the
beginning I went with a four. The only
reason I had for a three was it never really intensified during the book. I had an expectation that with a Dom taking a
psychologist into the world of BDSM for the first time, it would have some
intensity and internal drama but while there were a few glitches, I think my
expectations weren’t met. While BDSM is prominent
in the book world, this concept had me intrigued by the synopsis and I was hopeful
to see more because we have a man that tends to be on the other side of the law
and a woman who is independent, strong and psychologist who works with victims
and law enforcement. It is a short read
and was easy for me to read in one sitting and I did feel that the development
of Adam and Olivia was so strong I connected to each of them very quickly.
Adam needs control of his world, both in society and in the
bedroom. Being an owner of the BDSM club
Overwatch, he has that natural need to protect and defend those who are weaker
or in trouble. He is also a vigilante for
hire to keep the adrenaline flowing. He
comes across Olivia one night while he was out for a run. When he heard her screaming he found her
struggling on the ground against two car jackers and his protective nature took
over when he rescued her. He got more
than he bargained for in that deal because he was attracted to her at that
moment.
Olivia has spent her life building her practice and looking
for love. She has worked with victims of
crimes and she knows the advice she gives them, but when she becomes a victim
herself she finds that it is easy to break down and lean on Adam for support,
even if it was just a few minutes. When
she thinks she is interested it is Adam who puts the breaks on any advances
because he wants to make sure she enters his world with a clear mind and
willing heart. After deciding that she
isn’t attracted to him for the common rescuer reasons, she calls him and their journey
begins. As he takes her into his club and breaks her “club virginity” it was
not only hot but endearing to watch him with her and to see her willingness to
learn submission for Adam.
As I said the story really never becomes highly intense but
there is enough emotion that kept me turning the pages and falling for those
two more with each chapter. I would recommend
this book to any BDSM lover who really doesn’t need a ton of drama to enjoy a
book. As I stated Adam had me won over
in the first chapter and I did feel sad when I finished the book because I
really wanted to see where they were going to go in life and let’s be honest…….can
you ever have enough of a sexy Dom?
