One Kiss with a Rock Star by Amber Lin and Shari Slade

Half-Life bassist Krist Mellas is caught in a PR nightmare after his dirty sex video blew up online. His agent has the solution: a fake engagement with sultry pop princess Madeline Fox. Krist can’t think of anything worse than a charade with the bubblegum bombshell…except losing the band.

Madeline knows better than anyone what it means to live a lie in the spotlight. She’s determined to help Krist without ever letting him find out what it costs her—or about her girlhood crush on him. But after a smoking hot back alley encounter with him leaves her breathless, she can’t deny she wants the snarling bad-boy rocker.

In a world of glitter and diamonds where the kisses are fake but the climaxes are real, their facades start to crack. And the publicity storm may shatter them both.

WARNING: This book contains a scorching threesome, a dirty talking pop princess, and a surly rocker who hits all the right notes.

I have a firm believe that rock star books should be off the charts hot.  Steamy.  Fog my glasses while I read steamy.  I think I was ruined early on in this genre and now only expect to be extremely impressed.  I would say that this book was hot, but I found it lacking in a few other ways.
Krist is the bassist for the band Half-Life, and he gets into a bit of a pickle after a video featuring a threesome between him, the lead singer and the Lock’s woman hits the internet.  His publicist thinks the best way to deal with the aftermath is a sham engagement to a pop princess and while Krist isn’t all on board with the idea, he also doesn’t want to lose his band.  Madeline Fox is America’s sweetheart and she’s secretly been harboring a crush on Krist and wants to help him.  Not to mention she wants to get her squeaky clean image a bit dirty, so she readily agrees to be his fake fiancé.  The problem is, is it all for show or could there be more between them?  Will they be able to walk away from each other at the end?
First things first – the sex.  It’s hot.  The chemistry is also pretty smokin’ between Krist and Maddy.  There is definitely no shortage of intense, outside the box (haha) sex scenes if you’re into that kind of thing.  And you know us at CMR -- or at least me—are very into that.  Solid book in that respect.
I can’t say that I thought the plot was terribly original, but it is what it is.  Nothing in this book really shocked me plot wise, but I did find it an entertaining and well-written read.  A few things didn’t quite sit well with me by the end, a few unresolved issues so to speak and I would have liked for the story to delve more into Krist’s sexuality and the relationship with the band, but I was left a bit high and dry there.
Overall, I found it to be a fun and hot read and it’s pretty much exactly what you expect to get when reading a book like this.  I would say it’s worth your time and is money well spent. 4 stars.
