Revenge (Southwestern Shifters #8) By Bailey Bradford

**This book contains M/M romance**

When it comes to series, I don’t usually just post my review for one book, I try to combine the books in the series.  However after reading this book, I just couldn’t wait to post my review!!!  But don’t worry; I will include the links for the rest of the books in the series at the bottom of this post!

Ok so this book is the 8th book in the Southwestern Shifters series.  We have met the two main characters, Ryder (Reverence) and Maarten (Revolution) in previous books, but even if you haven’t read the prior books, you will not be lost with this book!  Also in this book, we get to catch up with all the previous couples we have met throughout the series.

But back to this book, Ryder was turned into a shifter against his choice, and a powerful one at that.  He has the typical case of saying whatever he is thinking, before thinking about what he is saying.  That usually ends up getting him into trouble.  Maarten is an outcast after his brother comes back and claims his spot as the Alpha Anax of Europe.

Nathan tries to help them both out by “forcing” them to spend time together, but what Nathan didn’t know was that Ryder and Maarten were mates.  Even if they wanted to separate them, they couldn’t leave each other.

During the course of this book, Nathan and Marcus’s base is under attack, and they have to fight to keep everyone safe.  With shifters ending up tortured and murdered, the attacker is getting braver.  When Maarten is attacked, Ryder learns what it would be like to lose his mate, even though he just found him.  We are all on pins and needles waiting to see if Marcus can defeat the attackers, or will the southwestern shifters end up being separated.

While reading this book, there were parts that I couldn’t stop laughing at; yes Maarten has a great sense of humor!  Parts where I was almost in tears and parts where I was wondering what Bailey was thinking when she was writing!  One thing that I did really enjoy about this book and the series in general, is with each book in the series, you learn more and more about the characters in the series.  She does it in a way without it taking away from the main characters of that book.

I did enjoy the fight scenes that were in this book as well.  Bailey’s mind works in a way that she thinks to include what may seem like details that others would overlook, but they add to the story in an amazing way.  The world that Bailey has created is an amazing one that once you get started in the series, you join the ones waiting for the next book.

This is one of my favorite series from her, but I do have to say whole heartily, that out of this series, this book is my favorite!!  I can’t wait for more to come from the mind of Bailey!

And now what I promised you!! Here are the links to the other books in the Southwestern Shifters Series!!

When Gabriel Staley rescues a magnificent black wolf, he has no idea that destiny has just turned up the heat and brought him his mate, sexy shapeshifter Mika Blackwell.

Gabriel Staley was used to being an outcast in the small town of Shasta, Texas. More concerned with rescuing stray dogs from a cruel death at the hands of the local Sheriff, Gabe focuses on making a difference and standing up for what he believes is right. Mika Blackwell, a shape shifter who was banned from his pack, is new to the outcast status, and not adjusting very well.

When Gabe heads out to rescue an injured wolf, he has no idea that his life is about to be eternally altered. As Mika watches the man approach him, he feels the universe tilt and realises that, while he may have lost his pack, he's just found what every shifter longs for - his destined mate.

Together, Gabriel and Mika must find their way and fight for their love—from confronting Mika's former pack leader to stopping someone who tries to kill Gabe's best friend, Todd. When Todd's attacker comes after Gabe, Mika is determined to protect his mate at all costs.

Zane Mitchell is about to learn that you can’t outrun your destiny—especially not when that destiny is wrapped up in the form of one big, sexy, relentless shapeshifter, Aidan Criswell.

Zane is the alpha of the Gila National Forest pack of shifters. He’s been forced to make some very bad choices—like kicking out Mika Blackwell, a gay shifter who was once Zane’s friend. The elders demanded it, and Zane gave in to them rather than stand up to them.

When he and all other alphas of Southwestern packs are called to a mandatory meeting with the Dux Ducis—Aidan Criswell, the man in charge of all shifter packs in the Southwest U.S.—something happens that sends Zane fleeing in panic. He’s found his mate, the one person who can complete him—and the one person Zane knows could never want him because of his past actions.

Aidan Criswell is as shocked to discover the man he’d been ordered to investigate—a man who’d had a pack member banned for being gay—is his mate. But destined mates are always exactly perfectly matched, and once Aidan accepts that fact, he believes there is more to Zane’s story than meets the eye—and as Zane is soon to discover, Aidan Criswell is one relentless son of a bitch.

Six months in his enemies hands has left Marcus Criswell a shell of the man he used to be—or so he thought until his destined mate rescued him from a cruel death.

Six months have passed since Marcus Criswell, Alpha Anax of the North American shifters, disappeared. Held captive, tortured and driven to the brink of madness, he still refuses to give up. Even when his captors abandon him, leaving him chained without food or water, Marcus will not accept his fate.

Until his fate changes with the appearance of his mate, Nathan Grant. Now if only the two of them can survive long enough to enjoy it.

Nathan Grant doesn’t know the first thing about shifters other than he is one and should avoid all others. He’s followed that advice all of his life. Raised by humans, Nathan is more than a little uncomfortable with the idea of being around any other shifters. One spontaneous day spent running as his wolf in Lincoln National Forest forces Nathan to reconsider what little he thought he knew, and to risk his life for one very unforgettable man.

Surviving isn’t easy, and Marcus is all too aware he’s only a shell of the man he used to be. He wasn’t broken completely, but he’s definitely fractured, and even finding his mate might not be enough to help him heal.

Alex Morgan has a mission set for himself-get justice for his Alpha Anax and come back the big hero. The only problem there is that he can’t seem to track down Joshua Dobson, and he needs to, because Joshua needs to die. This was supposed to be a quick deal, but it’s been weeks and Alex is tired and missing his pack, and he can’t escape a few new truths he learns about himself.

Before Alex decides to totally throw in the towel, he manages to find the man he’s been hunting, and his entire pack. Alex calls for reinforcements then finds he needs more than a few reinforcements of his own-against a man who has been abused most his life. A man who is Alex’s destined mate. A man Alex doesn’t think he should want, because he’s the brother of Joshua Dobson.

Todd Benson almost died for the freedom to love Adam Soames. Now they face obstacles that once again place both of them in danger.

Todd Benson had figured he’d be alone forever. He had the best friend any guy could want in Gabe Staley, and Gabe’s partner Mika was okay, too. But a personal life and any kind of true happiness was out of the question. With Todd’s bigoted and violent parents, and the Sheriff he worked for trying to torture animals and Gabe, Todd knew he’d do well just to survive his job as a deputy in the small town of Shasta, Texas.

Adam Soames needed to get away from the big city. His best friend had found his perfect man and moved away, and Adam felt lost in the city. The opportunity to have his own veterinary practice in a small town sounded perfect. He didn’t know he’d soon be living a life he’d only dreamed of—or the cost he and the man he loved would have to pay.
Together Todd and Adam face seemingly insurmountable odds, from Todd’s recovery from a vicious attack to the prejudices and trials many couples have. Then there’s the big shocker of finding out Gabe and Mika aren’t humans, exactly, but wolf shifters instead, and a whole new door is opened and trouble soon comes barrelling through it.

Harley was thrust into the realm of the supernatural at the hands of a sadistic shifter, and his world will never be the same.

Harley’s one-night stand turned into a nightmare when a vengeance-seeking shifter kidnapped him to use Harley as a pawn. Things didn’t go so well for his abductor, or for Harley. He’d never have believed there were werewolves...shifters, rather, in the real world. After being freed, his mind is a mess and he doesn’t know how to cope with the things he’s experienced. Fear and anger are powerful emotions, and when they are out of control, the harm caused can scare one’s soul.

Val Whitley only ever had one goal in life—to serve in Marcus Criswell’s guard. Val had looked up to Alpha Anax Criswell for a long time and was honoured to serve him. When an accident alters Val’s life, possibly forever, he fears he’ll be of little or no use to his Alpha Anax. What good is a physically damaged shifter, especially one as messed up as he is?

When Val is sent out on an order from Alpha Anax Criswell, he thinks he’s being pawned off since he’s blind in one eye and is less than any other shifter. He doesn’t expect to find a strength he never knew he had, or the love of a destined mate...

Three years running for their lives has brought Luuk and Jameson to the point of desperation. A close call that almost ends in their deaths makes it clear to Luuk that he must stop running and find a way to take back his position as the European Alpha Anax, leader of all wolf shifters in Europe. To do so, he must defeat the man who ambushed him and has been trying to kill him and Jameson.

Jameson didn’t know when he fell for Luuk that he was Luuk’s mate. He didn’t know shifters existed, but he learned fast and hard. Three years on the run in the wild have left him too close to an edge that, if he falls over, he fears he’ll be lost. The darkness in his mind is threatening his life as much as those who hunt him.

As Luuk and Jameson take their stand, they find they have allies in places they never suspected, and Jameson hasn’t been forgotten by everyone he left behind, not at all.
