Grey's Hidden Fire, Draven S. James

Genre: LGBT, Contemporary

Grey's entire life is wrapped around his job as a firefighter. It's all he has ever wanted. That is until his new coworker Mica Cruz saunters through the door with his smoldering dark looks and dimpled grin. Suddenly Grey finds himself wanting to get to know what Mica looks like out of his gear and between the sheets.

Mica has one rule: he keeps his work life and his personal life separate. It's easy enough to follow until he meets Grey and finds his rule can't stand up to the fire that Grey ignites. There's one big thing standing in the way of all of his lust-filled musings. Grey is straight.

In a profession where being gay is often kept quiet Grey must come to terms with his growing attraction to Mica. How much is he willing to sacrifice, and can they come together before someone's hatred threatens to destroy them both?

Oh who doesn’t love the confused love stories?  I know I do personally, the stories where two people meet, they have this attraction towards each other, but they are unsure as to what to do about it?  Those to me are the best kinds of stories.  You get to read as the character’s debate with themselves about their feelings; it’s not just a “jump right into bed” kind of story.

Grey is a complicated character, yet at the same time he isn’t.  He knows what he wants, and that is Mica, but he is unsure as to how to get that.  Having experiences in his past hinder him from making that first move.  Even more serious is being in a profession that being gay is frowned upon.  Watching him go through the challenges that he was facing, is something that I am sure many gay men go through in their life.

Mica is a simple character to me, he knows what he wants and that’s that.  He will deal with the bad things that people have to say about him, but as long as he is happy that is all that matters to him.  Grey makes him happy, and even if that means he stays in the closet a little bit longer that is fine with him.  One thing that I did love about his character is how much he cared about everyone around him.  Even when he wasn’t sure who was being hateful to him, he still showed everyone the same amount of concern.

I have 2 complaints about this book, the first one minor and the second one major.  The minor one is I didn’t really like the after effects of Grey’s first male male encounter.  To me that just seemed very violent.  My major complaint is how short this story seemed to me!  I wanted more!!

But all in all, I really did enjoy this story and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

This is my first foray into LGBT erotic romance. And wow…I was not disappointed. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be up my alley, but I really enjoyed reading about this aspect of erotism. Plus, there’s firefighters…and straight or gay, you can’t go wrong with firefighters in my book!

This is the story of Grey. He has devoted his entire life to his job as a firefighter. The one day, Mica Cruz (awesome name) comes into the station, dimples and all. And the “fire” between these two is HOT. What’s really great though, and I think what pulled me in, was the authors ability to draw you into the characters. You understand their motivations and that’s so important to the story. It’s very masterfully told, and the sex scenes are really hot. As I said, I wasn’t sure if I’d find it appealing, but I now consider myself a convert to LGBT literature because of this story. It was soooo good.

Overall, the writing, the style, the plot made this book impossible to put down. I just can’t express how much I liked this story and the characters. I say, even if you don’t think you’re into this kind of literature, give it a try. You may surprise yourself.

I coming out and giving this book 4.5 stars!
