Well, well, well…that was a darkly erotic read! Wowza!
Seriously, I did not see that coming, at all. I thought it would be your run-of-the-mill,
everyday girl introduced to the darker side of sex story, but it turned out to
be a lot more. Holy hotness, Batman!
Seductive Shadows is the journey of Charlie, who is a
talented artist with a lot of secrets. She has a terrible home life, and always
has. She’s struggling to put her life
back together from some pretty serious trauma and ill treatment, paying her own
way through school part-time and working full time to pay off her mountain of
debt. The thing about Charlie is, she is
a horn dog with a capital “H”.
Seriously, it’s like she’s a 15 year old boy trapped in a hot 23 year
old woman’s body. I haven’t come upon a
lot of characters like Charlie in my reads.
She really owns her sexuality, embraces it, but uses as merely a
physical outlet. She has a hard time
connecting with people emotionally yet also manages to be vulnerable, which
makes her perfect prey for people with nefarious plans. The story keeps you on your toes, that’s for
sure.
This book is told through present day and flashback scenes,
as Charlie’s complete story unfolds before you.
This book is mysterious and has a very dark and gritty tone to it. It’s a lot different than anything I’ve read
recently. The language and descriptions
had me from the get-go. It’s a well told
story, with well thought out characters and intriguing plot. I really liked it a lot and it earned 4 stars from me!
