Fighting for Flight, By JB Salsbury

What happens when in order to win, you’re forced to lose?

The only daughter of an infamous Las Vegas pimp, Raven Morretti grew up an outsider. Liberated from the neglectful home of her prostitute mother, she finds solace as a mechanic. With few friends, she’s content with the simple life. Flying under the radar is all she knows and more than she expects.

Until she catches the eye of local celebrity, UFL playboy, Jonah Slade.

Weeks away from his title fight, Jonah is determined to stay focused on everything he’s trained so hard to achieve. Undefeated in the octagon, he’s at the height of his career. But resisting Raven’s effortless allure and uncomplicated nature is a fight he can’t win.

Jonah trades in his bad-boy reputation and puts his heart on the line. But when her father contacts her, setting in motion the ugly truth of her destiny, Jonah must choose. In a high-stakes gamble where love and freedom hang in the balance, a war is waged where the price of losing is a fate worse than death.

Will the hotheaded Jonah be able to restrain his inner fighter to save the woman he loves?

Or will Raven be forced into a life she’s been desperate to avoid?

So...wow. As an avid reader, I just love when you read a book by a new, unknown author that just blows you away. This book so totally did. It has great characters, a great plot; the writing is great and flows well. This genre just does not get any better than this.

This is the story of Raven, who is just quirky and adorable. She smart, funny and loyal, yet she has a sad and dark past. She’s also a car mechanic… is awesome. You really can't help but just fall in love with her character from the get go. Our hero, Jonah, is all alpha, and let me tell you, he is tasty. Personally, I think there are very few authors that can pull off an alpha male well. Most of the time, they seem psycho to me...controlling to the point of being abusive. There's a very fine line there, and this author manages to toe the line and do it well. He's protective yet loving, is a strong, tough fighter but is a total marshmallow when it comes to Raven. He's perfect. You never doubt his motives or his love of Raven.

Another great thing about this story is the plot. It really goes beyond your normal boy-meet-girl romance. There's none of those silly and easy solvable misunderstandings between characters that drive them apart. They fall for each other, fall hard and face what comes their way together. That's rare in this genre and I really liked it. And let me tell you, the suspense of the last 20% of this book is awesome. I could not put it down.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book! It has it all: suspense, love, steamy sex and great characters! I will eagerly be waiting for the next book in this series! A definite 4.5 stars for me!
