The Law of Attraction Blog Tour Stop!!!

Once upon a time two lawyers fell in love across a courtroom …

Gabrielle Ginsberg was a public defender with plenty of nerve and Braden Pierce was an assistant district attorney with a whole lot of swagger. Gabrielle wanted Braden and Braden wanted Gabrielle.
And Cameron wanted Gabrielle.
And Marla wanted Braden.
And Cole wanted Gabrielle.
And Mrs. Mason wanted Braden.
And an anonymous letter writer wanted to keep Gabrielle and Braden apart.
Together Gabrielle and Braden discovered many important things, like which doors at the courthouse actually locked, and that desks could be useful for more than writing. They also found out that the path of love was not always smooth, and it was sometimes trod upon by some really wacky people, like a confused fanny grabber, an eighty-two year old pothead and a gentleman who threw a wine and cheese party in his pants. Could true love overcome a lack of privacy, interference by jealous rivals and the insanity of the criminal court system?

NOTICE: This book contains explicit descriptions of sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for readers over the age of eighteen.

This book was recommended to me by a follower of my blog, I think she threatened me into reading this book, and I do have to say that I am completely happy that she did that!

There were parts of this book that had me laughing out loud so hard that I had tears running down my face, and other parts where you were left wondering what was going to happen next.  The character’s that are in this book were done just amazingly well.  Without a doubt this book goes in my top 25 of the year.
The sexual tension between Gabrielle and Braden was just off the charts amazingly funny.  How can sexual tension be funny?  Read this book and find out how!  The drama that takes place was done just right as well.  There was enough there that it kept you wondering, but it didn’t overtake the book at all.  You are going along with your reading and then it pops its head back up again reminding you of what is going on.
Gabrielle’s character was hilarious.  Oh my gosh the stuff that would come out of her mouth was just great.  Even though she has a serious job, she shows her playful side while she is dating Braden.  Now Braden’s character, I think he is on my list of book boyfriends because there is something about him that just leaves you wanting more of him.  He is the strong silent type that goes against his rules to be with Gabrielle.

Overall, this is a complete must read of the year.  It will leave you wanting for more in the best way possible, but it has an amazing ending that you will be upset the pages don’t turn anymore.

I don’t read a lot of books about lawyers. I pretty much view the law as a profession where you’re doomed to do homework for the rest of your life and then end up surly and bitter, looking something like Jabba the Hut Antonin Scalia. I’ve shied away from stories like this, but I have to say that I’m glad I have this one a chance. It was a witty, intriguing and fun ride that I did not expect.

Gabrielle has a major crush on Braden, but he is a serious player. She has no interest in that, even if she does drool over him in court on a regular basis. Finally, they reach a very lawyer-like agreement where they will go out on 4 dates, and he won’t touch her until the 3rd. The sexual tension and build up between these two is, in my opinion, the best thing about this book. I LOVE the buildup, and it’s always a bonus when it’s done as well as it is in this case (hey…I think that was a lawyer pun!).

For me, the book lost a bit of its momentum once Gabrielle and Braden hooked up. Plus, Braden made a very fast transformation from womanizer to one woman man…it was a bit mind boggling. There is also a suspense sub-plot that I assume will carry over into book two. Nothing crazy, but entertaining with the H/h at the helm. Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys they are not!

All in all, I enjoyed this book. For a debut novel, I was impressed. I will definitely read book 2 and that’s why I give this a solid 4 stars!

Once upon a time ... N.M. Silber was a criminal defense attorney who got up each morning, donned her power suit and sensible pumps, downed a gallon of coffee and set out to "fight the good fight" while trying to not go insane. Having a dark sense of humor and a sarcastic wit helped -- a lot. Another thing that helped was reading. As escapism was the goal, she liked to read romance novels, especially really funny ones and really sexy ones. Then one day something beautiful happened -- she read one that was both funny and sexy at the same time. She hung up her power suit, put away her sensible pumps and moved her coffee mug to her computer. Now she writes funny and smutty romance novels herself and she lives happily ever after.

  1. Thank you ladies so much for the wonderful reviews! I really appreciate it and I hope you'll keep reading the whole series (which will include stand-alone books for Adam, Mark and Drew at the very least:)
