This Girl, By Colleen Hoover

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache. Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

I found Slammed by a total fluke one day quite a while ago, and of course if you have read that book, then you know you had to read Point of Retreat. Both of those books were just amazing, the story behind them and just being able to follow the relationship between Will and Lake. What starts out as a first love turns into something more serious and dramatic as the pages turn.

When I found out that Colleen was going to be releasing a book from Will’s point of view, I will be honest to say that I had mixed emotions of reading the story. There have been so many books that are re-released under the other person’s pov and it just seems like a constant repeat of what we have already read in the past. So you can imagine my surprise when I started reading this one and it was completely different from what I thought it would be.

This book is told from Will’s POV, but it is done in a way that you’re not repeating the previous books over and over. There is enough there that you can completely understand and follow what had happened in the prior books from Will’s perspective. I really enjoyed this book because we got to learn more about Will, and about Julia as well.

If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, then you really should be its just an amazing series that will tug at your heart strings and almost will leave you in tears.
