Sometimes love burns so hot in your veins that it consumes all rational thought.
That’s why Brock and I never had a chance. I had to start my life over. College was my chance to become someone new. I changed everything about myself to fit in, but one person saw through my facade.
The attraction between Abel and I was undeniable, but I still hadn’t healed from the painful secret I carried around with me. Abel struggled to get me to face my past in order to move forward. In doing so, he revealed a secret of his own; one that changed everything I thought I knew.
A secret that would bring Brock back into my life and force me to face the truth of what really happened the day I lost him.

I was hooked on this book! I literally read
it in one sitting and didn't even put it down to eat or play on Facebook, which
rarely happens for me. The story revolves around Delilah (Lie for short) and
her horrible childhood. I totally could
relate to how she felt about her mother which was the first thing that drew me
in. While she was away from home, she meets Brock and falls in love. First
loves are always so sweet and innocent and I adore them.
So to better explain the book, Delilah was
away at college and relived her story which is how we hear about Brock and
wonder, why aren't they together anymore? She cares about him? What did he do?
Then she meets Abel and her attraction to
him grows. I loved Abel, hated Abel, liked him again, really hated him, and
then at the end went....ohhhhh that makes sense!
Anyhow, he has a totally amazing sense of
humor which is what I love most about him and his banter with Lie had me
giggling out loud more than once. So the author did an amazing job building the
suspense and wonder. I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting to hear WHY
Lie wasn't with Brock anymore and what would happen with her and Abel.
And of course, Lie's roommate who also has
a crush on Abel! That was just more drama to the story and I loved every second
of it. I wish I could say I loved to hate the roommate but no, I just really
didn't care for her at all even when everything became known at the end. I
disliked her so much I don't even recall her name! I am so glad I am done with
that age and having "friends" like her.
So back to the book, once we finally find
out what happened with Brock, our jaws are already on the floor, and then BAM! She
hits us with another surprise that I NEVER saw coming. I personally wished it
had ended differently, hence the four not five star rating, but that will not
keep me from telling everyone I know who is a fan of this genre to go get their
copy and read it NOW!
"I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given
my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the
weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal
Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France
where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and
People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the
black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided
to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the
family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People
couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually
I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand
at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like
to tell you a story.
