As most you know by now, I’m a fan of smutty books.  Give me the sex, and give it to me good…that’s my motto (book sex, of course).  I have read all of Kresley Cole’s books and her tend to be on the upper level of smexiness.  This book, however, if her other books are 10’s on the smut scale – this book is an eleven.  Holy mackerel…it has been a long time since I read something this hot, with such a completely hot cliffhanger at the end.  ZOMG!!!!!

Natalie Porter is a PhD student in Nebraska.  She was adopted as a baby and knows that her birth parents are Russian, and has tried for the last 6 years to find them.  She thought she had finally hit the jackpot with one investigator, but he stopped returning her emails, so she thought she got duped and her money stolen.  Then, one night, she is a bar “manalying” with her girlfriends when the sexiest, most enigmatic and mysterious man she has ever seen walks in.  She is never interested in men, but she is immediately taken with him.  She attempts to approach him, he shows interest initially, but just as a quickly turns her down and leaves.  Later, when she is at home in the bath, he shows up.  It is then she finds out that he is Aleksandr Sevastyan, an enforcer for a very rich and powerful Russian man who turns out to be Natalie’s real father.  Her father has requested her presence in Russia, and Sevastyan is there to make sure she goes.  The rest, as they say, is history.  The two leave for Russia only find that Natalie is in danger due to her father, and as he attempts to save her life, they grow closer and give in to their undeniable attraction.

Oh my *fans self*, this was one hot read.  Like honestly, off the charts hot.  Sevastyan is the quintessential Alpha male.  He is demanding, he does not wield, he’s sexy and he definitely knows how to please the ladies.  He is sex personified.  It has been a really long time since I have read an Alpha character that is the very embodiment of what an Alpha male should be.  So many authors try to do the Alpha justice, and very few actually succeed.  I think Kresley needs to do a workshop on how to write an alpha male perfectly because Sevastyan is just that…perfect.  I mean sure, he can be infuriating as hell, but man oh man…I’ll take an infuriating man with magic hands and lips like his any day.  He is AWESOME.  He’s why I read these books in the first place.

Natalie is also incredibly entertaining.  She’s smart, sassy and spunky. She is basically the perfect balance to Sevastyan’s intensity in this book.  Plus, the way the story is told really pulls you into their power struggle.  Both, it really seems, are a bit on the dominating side of things, and Natalie discovers things about herself through their power play that are exciting, hot (can I use hot a few more times in this review?) and enveloping. 

Kresley Cole is one of those authors that, no matter what it is, I buy her books.  I know that they will be written well and have great characters, especially strong female heroines.  She is so great at world-building too…I’m not sure how she does it but she just makes it all believable.  Nothing feels hokey or contrived; it’s all just fits together well.  I cannot wait for the rest of this series to come out…bated breath here, seriously.  5 stars!
