Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.
At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.
Then it all shattered.
Kidnapped.
Starved.
Tied up like a piece of meat then whipped.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me. I was wrong. Sculpt was there to break me.
*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content.
No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream's story (the band's lead guitarist).
How far will you go for the one you love?
What does it take to lose the trust of your first love? Hopefully before
reading this you have already read the prequel, With You, otherwise, this one
will contain spoilers (although it is in the synopsis so....)
This book opens with our jaws on the floor!
Literally. It starts with Emily being kidnapped and being taken to Mexico by
SCULPT! Yes, seriously. Well him and few other goons. They are taking her there
to be a sex slave. Wow! NEVER EVER saw that coming from the prequel (well until
the end obviously!). We go through Emily's horrible journey while being in
Mexico and also hear from Sculpt. My heart broke for the things Emily had to
endure and also for the things she saw.
"My insides were ripping apart,
tearing, burning with fear."
"Some things can't be repaired. You
break them bad enough, they can't be fixed."
I have had my heart ripped out by a boy,
but NEVER like Sculpt has done to her. I honestly was like WTF? Why is he doing
this?! Will she make it? There are so many bombs dropped on us in this book, it
is like never ending action and wonderment.
"Logan (Sculpt) closed his eyes for a
half a second then looked at me. The pain I saw there was so raw that my breath
hitched, and I wanted to go to him and ease it. How could I feel this way? He
didn't deserve anything from me."
How can you love and want the man holding
you as his sex slave? Why can't we shut our feelings off even after the
ultimate betrayal?
"I had tried so hard to stop feeling
anything for this man who shattered my heart and now...now I wanted him to make
love to me. It was sick. I was sick."
The author has an amazing way with words
and this story had me nothing less than hooked. It is a darker romance and I
would not recommend it to anyone who has issues with abuse, rape, torture, etc.
When I went into this one, I thought it would be very similar to another dark
romance I recently read and loved about being sold into the sex slave, however
I was very happily surprised that it reminded me nothing of the other book. I
do love them both however.
We are also introduced to more secondary
characters that will have their own books! Next book is due out 2014 (please be
early 2014 please, please, please!) and will feature Ream (a bandmate of
Sculpts and Kat who is Emily's best friend). There is also going to be a spin
off series with some of the other characters I grew to love. Let me tell you,
if they are anything like this one, bring them on and QUICK please! I love that
the author tied this one up pretty well and didn't leave us with any major
cliffhangers. There are a few loose ends that I am anxiously waiting to hear
about but nothing I am ready to throw my Kindle across the room over.
I
highly highly recommend these books and this author. I will continue reading
this series as long as she keeps writing them. Bravo!

Sculpt is an illegal fighter.
He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band.
No one knows his real name.
And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine.
In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.
I tried to ignore it.
I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to my body—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained.
Then he kissed me.

What do you do when you are almost
attacked? You go to an underground fighting ring and find the best to teach you
and you don't take no for an answer. Well, that is what Emily does anyhow and
wow, did she find a dream boat. Sculpt is not only a fighter but also in a band
and is reluctant to teach her at first but gives in. As they spend more time
together, they develop feelings for each other. Wow, this man is a smooth
talker! So alpha, and domineering but in a good way!
"I kiss you Emily.....there's no going
back. No other guy kisses you, touches you, or gets to taste what's mine. I
don't share"
Swoony right?
Anyhow, Emily has had a rough childhood
losing her dad when she was 10 and having a mother that doesn't care much about
her. Her best friend Kat and her brother Matt have taken her under their wing.
One problem, Matt doesn't like Emily with Sculpt. Nobody knows his real name,
his past, or anything about him.
"Careful sweetie, he's something
different."
But the heart wants what the heart wants.
"This guy had me kidnapped and strung
up in him without even trying, and it terrified me."
"I saw the truth in his words. The
meaning in his touch and the sweetness in his kiss. There was something more to
him than he let everyone see. A vulnerability beneath his confidence."
So after all the sweetness, we get hit with
the ending of all ending. One that has you literally shaking your head, going
WHAT?!
Make sure you have the book "Torn From
You" on your Kindle because you WILL start this immediately after this one
ends. I really enjoyed this book as a prequel for Torn From You and really
should be read as a prequel to better enjoy the next book. I highly recommend
the series to anyone who enjoys dark romance.
