Deathblow by Dana Marton

Former small-town football hero turned cop, Joe Kessler never met a linebacker, perp, or a woman he couldn't handle. Then a troubled single mom walks into his life, and the only place this hot jock will ever see 'easy' again is in the dictionary.

Hiding out in Broslin, PA was working pretty well for Wendy Belle until Cop Casanova took her under his protection. Now she’ll either lose her life to one man, or her heart to another.

To be honest, I wasn’t completely sure how I would like this book. I have only read a few cop books that I have enjoyed, but I refused to let that hinder me on my reading adventure. And I can say that once I started this book I couldn’t put it down! Another thing that I was worried about was this is a new author for me. I’m usually weary of starting a new author, but I have to say that I was once again completely blown away with this story.
I really enjoyed the way that the characters were written out. Joe, even though he came off as a complete playboy, (granted I haven’t read the other books in the series so I could be completely wrong here!) he seemed more like the guy next door. I completely loved his character. He wasn’t overly cocky, and he didn’t come off as a jerk, especially when it came to Wendy.
Now Wendy’s character, I have to say I was a bit worried when I found out she was an abused woman. For the simple fact that I was worried she was going to be a woman who held all men accountable for what had happened to her. But throughout the story, it was amazing to watch as she was able to find her inner strength.
The story starts right off the bat and it just keeps going from there. There was tons of action and drama that kept the book moving at a fast pace, but not too fast to where you would get lost. I kept turning the pages on my kindle, and was upset at how slow they were changing for me!
I will say with complete honesty, that I will be sure to check out the rest of the books in the series. This author has a new fan for life from me!

  1. Thank you, Crystal!!!! Sarah sent me a link to your blog, and I'm so glad she did. You made my day. I'm so glad you liked Joe and Wendy. I know what you mean about neither being what one would expect. I did not pick Joe for Wendy originally, but he let me know in no uncertain terms that Wendy was his. :-)
