This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be, in a very good way.  I expected the standard firefighter romance, but this story is about a woman who is married to a firefighter who is trying to find herself again.  I loved it.

Lennox is married to Dean, who is a passionate firefighter.  She loves him, loves their children, but is at a true crossroads in her life.  She feels as if she’s lost herself, and she’s going through a crisis of not only her own identity, but a crisis in her marriage as well.  This book takes you through the whole of Dean and Lennox’s story, from when they meet and fall in love until the present day.  What is plaguing her now is the sudden reappeared of an old flame.  It’s causing her to question her marriage and her place in it.

What was great about this book is that it’s so real.  I have a great marriage and a great husband, but as a woman who has been with one man for over a decade, it’s easy to identify with Lennox and her story.  Love changes.  It burns bright at first and then sometime burns out, or rekindles.  Lennox was just written so well that it was easy to identify with her

I also really loved the writing style of this book.  It flowed really well and was filled with a lot of romantic imagery.  It’s a romantic story in the truest sense of the word, and was refreshing and surprising for me to read.

Another great thing about this story is that it really takes you some place you don’t expect.  There are twists and turns to it and I found myself shocked at some of the places this story went.  I read so many books that I feel like it’s hard to surprise me.  This book surprised me.  It’s a great love story.  4.5 stars.

Prologue
There was a time in my life when the light within me shined so brightly. At some point I lost it. I lost me. Life used to course through my veins like an out of control wildfire, unstoppable and infectious. Time was supposed to heal, but all it did was slowly strip me down to an empty vessel void of passion, desire, and drive. I wanted to scream, “Be the one to save me,” but my soul was drained, my heart was shattered, and time had siphoned the life out of me.
