I can only start out by saying Jayden is my number one fictional boyfriend.  I just freaking adore this man. I was hooked on the very first chapter, the attraction and interaction between Jayden and Catherine/Erin was intense. 

Catherine, or Erin, as she is also called, had just escaped a horrible situation with a former Dom. Battered and scared, she still decided the life style of BDSM was what she needed in her life.  Gathering the courage and saving the money to go to an open night at the BDSM club she stands in line waiting to get in.  This is when she sees the handsome Jayden walking to the front of the line. She knows her role as a sub, so she peeks at him with respect.

Jayden had pretty much given up on the idea of finding an appropriate sub for himself, but he felt he would give the open night at the club one more chance.  Sure he had two others in his life that he could use for a quick release, but he longed for a sub that could handle and desire the same things he did……….PAIN. He spots Catherine in line and arranges for her to be admitted into the club quickly. Did he finally find a trained sub who knew how to show her Master respect?  It appeared that Catherine could be his dream comes true from just the way she stood in line and glanced at him.  

Jayden can’t figure out why Catherine overwhelms him but he knows she is carrying a lot of baggage from her past and he is determined to find out what it is she is hiding. Through this book we find what Catherine endured at the hands of her former Dom, the horrific things that was done to her and it proves that she is one strong fighter. The author does a wonderful job of showing us the emotional transitions that Jayden and Catherine go through. Her description of events and characters are so well developed, it was easy to visualize what was happening. Make sure you read this one first and then A Divine Life.  I am dying to get the third book Surreal, coming soon.

 

For the next hour, Jayden shifted topics in the questioning. Sometimes his questions were in regards to Spencer, other times he asked about childhood memories. I am so attached to Catherine and Jayden.  I rarely fan girl over a book, okay there are a few series that I have instructed my husband to bury me with, but this is certainly a book that didn’t take much time to win a piece of my heart.

I would strongly advise you read the first book in this series To Serve is Divine. Just in case you start with this one first, you will be able to tell from page on there is something deep in this relationship.  Oh it started off with sex, I mean HOT sex, but there was clearly an emotional connection.  With every scene I was able to see the relationship develop more and grow into something so strong and looking towards forever.  Jayden displayed such concern and love for Catherine but it was clear she had something deep in her past that made her unsure how lovable she could be to him.  There were a few flashbacks of her past that we saw in this book that showed she has come a long way in the world of trust but I never doubted her love and loyalty and desire to please Jayden.

This was a story of pushing yourself to test new waters, see what your limits really are, not what you have imposed on yourself out of fear or lack of knowledge.  It was also a story of power and strength to overcome the baggage that you carry from your past and emerge into the person you were meant to be.  Jayden showed us what love can do when you put the other person before your own wishes and comforts.  He was willing to give Catherine her chance to experience her dreams and fantasies, do it without his supervision because he put her first.

Ms. Hargrave has given me another power couple that I will be following for a long time.  She was able to hook me on page one and never let go. To see the love connection between Catherine and Jayden reaffirms my belief in true commitment to another...and what love really is.
