"Have you ever met someone who you immediately knew could change your life? I've heard about this happening, but I never experienced anything near it until tonight."

As per Lisa Renee Jones, these books should be read after If I Were You. As she requested, I did just that. I thoroughly enjoyed If I Were You (review coming soon!) and couldn't wait to read the journals of the mysterious woman we meet in the first book, Rebecca. There are four parts of the journals with the first three coming from Rebecca's writing and POV and the final coming from her "Master".

"But will he belong to me? And why was I afraid to ask? Probably because, deep down, I know the answer...and I don't want to accept it. This powerful man will never belong to anyone."

Rebecca stumbles into a job at an art gallery and also into a man who will bring her into his BDSM lifestyle. She will want far more than that, yet knows, deep down she will never get more. I loved how although the journals follow Rebecca's journey into the BDSM lifestyle, the books are more about her feelings of the lifestyle and her Master than the actual rituals and actions that happen to her in the lifestyle. I hope that makes sense. There was just so much depth into her mind that I felt sometimes I was truly just reading someone's personal diary and I felt like I was intruding. I will say the beginning for me was a bit choppy and I didn't get into the journal type writing. That changed somewhere along the way although I cannot pinpoint exactly where it happened. I thoroughly enjoyed all three of them with each journal getting better. I would definitely recommend reading these whether or not you read the series also. They are thought provoking and so personal.

"My thumb is always on the pulse of everything that happens around me-or so I thought. For the first time since college I'm not sure if that's true. I'm not sure it was ever true, and I don't know where that leaves me. I don't know who that makes me."

Ahhhh and then we get to the final novella, The Master Undone. Finally the mystery revolving around Rebecca is solved and it is a shocker! I literally gasped out loud. While this one can be read with the journals, I feel it would be a lot better after reading If I Were You as it revolves so closely to that book. I loved seeing the Master come unglued and so unsure of himself. While I found him to be an arrogant jerk for most of the rest of the books to this point, this novella showed his vulnerable side. The only downside to this one is I am not quite sure of the time frame. I do not know if this is happening at the same time as If I Were You or if this one is in between the first book and the second, Being Me. I guess maybe that is the author's intent-to have us wanting and needing more. I know I sure do and I will be starting Being Me as soon as my schedule allows as I have to know now. I am certainly hoping one of the future books (or hopefully one that is already written) delves more deeply into the Master's mind and also goes into more detail with the Rebecca mystery. I would definitely have to say these are a bit of a mind f*ck as I am going crazy right now trying to figure it all out. Well done Lisa Renee Jones, Bravo!
