Dearest Clementine Tour Stop!

Dearest Clementine Banner1

DC_FRONT_FINAL_REV-2
Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn't mind being called bitchy and closed off. It's safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.

Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out...in the name of research, of course.

As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.

DEAREST CLEMENTINE is a stand-alone novel with two companion novels. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

This is one of those books where when I looked at the description I was all “Meh, I’ll give it shot” and when I finished I was all “WHAT did I just read???”.  In the best way possible.
Clementine has had a rough go of it.  Her high school boyfriend cheats on her with her best friend.  She doesn’t get along with her parents or her brother.  When she goes to college she is stalked by a professor.  It’s all just too much, so Clementine shuts down and decides that in order to protect herself, she must wall herself off from everyone, especially men.  So she wasn’t looking for Gavin.  No way, no how!  But she can’t herself from being intrigued by his sweet persistence.  Can she let go of her past hurts and take advantage of what is being offered?
A lot of older readers don’t like reading new adult novels, but I have to admit I love them.  That transport me back to my early 20’s and it’s nostalgic for me.  I loved the setting of this book from the start for that reason.  And Gavin is soooo sweet and adorable.  He really takes his time with Clementine.  He knows what she needs and gives it to her.  He is the man every girl wants to meet in college.
Clementine as a character is, in a word, snarky.  I loved her inner monologues and the way she saw her world.  I can’t say that I fully understood her motivations for how she handled certain situations, such as her ex-boyfriend and brother, but I still very much enjoyed spending some time in her head.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book.  It’s pretty much everything you want in a new adult book.  The chemistry between the two main characters is awesome and kept me turning the pages.  4 stars.
Lex_small Lex Martin writes new adult novels, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she's not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher. She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, this native Texan has lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.
