Two years ago, Lilly
Frank's mother was brutally murdered--and the killer set free. Since
then Lilly has worked hard to create a safe and stable life for herself.
But she's thrown off balance when she meets Torren Frisk, a handsome
stranger whom she finds both irresistible and frightening. As she spends
more time with Torren, Lilly's growing attraction to him threatens to
unravel her world. Will she discover his secrets before the life she's
worked so hard to build comes crashing down on top of her?

Well this
was a nice surprise. With a short story under 80 pages it sure packs a
punch and leaves you with your butt on the edge of your seat and your mouth
hanging open. Lilly has lived the last few years in terror after finding
her mother’s body. The nightmares of blood and open wounds have haunted
her, but she still tries to go on in life while fearing her very
existence. Being engaged to a man, who I could best describe as a shell
of a human, she isn’t happy. Having another man who was arranged by her
rich father after her, she is determined to give him a clear message, they will
never be together.
One night
at a party in honor of her mother she is rescued by Torren and the sparks fly,
but there is more to him than she even realizes. He helps her find the
man who killed her mother. He should be in jail, but he was offered a chance at
the witness protection until he skipped out. Lilly had never felt her
mother got the justice she deserved and she was willing to carry that justice
out. She doesn’t get the satisfaction she craved; instead she got
answers as to who was behind her mother’s death. Shocked and in great
heartache she goes after the one who was responsible and this is where we are
left in this book.
For a
short story that was a quick read it packed a great deal of suspense, action
and drama in between the pages. Once I started it I couldn’t put it down
and had it read in a couple of hours. The characters were easy to relate to,
follow and invest in. If you don’t mind cliff hanger after cliff hanger I
would highly recommend this series. I am not a fan of having to purchase
multiple short stories to find out the answers, but this one is an exception
for me.
