Singing in the shower takes on a whole new meaning in Melissa Pearl's first Contemporary Romance.
Ella Simmons does not want to move across the country. But she is, because her boyfriend has persuaded her to join him at UChicago to finish out her college education. Never able to tell him no, she hops on a plane and makes the trek from LA expecting to adjust to life like she's often forced to, but things are not that simple when she hears a luscious voice singing over her shower wall. His deep, sexy tenor makes her weak in the knees, spreading fire through her limbs and making her question everything about her life and relationship.
Can one voice really have that much of an impact?
Cole Reynolds is on his way out. In his final year at UChicao, the only this he wants to do is finish school and get on with this life. But the sweet voice that interrupts his morning shower turns his world upside down. Compelled to find his shower songbird, he begins a search across campus. The only thing to distract him from this goal is his roommate's gorgeous girlfriend who's just arrived from LA - Ella Simmons.
Relationships are put to the ultimate test as future dreams are questioned and friendships are thrown on the line for love.
I was super excited to read this book, because the blurb was so
enticing. I was not disappointed. I may have actually been blown a little bit
away by how awesome this book was.
Shower singing…who would have thought it could be the catalyst for something
so life changing? Ella has just moved to
Chicago from Ella at the request of her boyfriend. While in the shower, she can hear a mystery
man with a sexy voice singing in the shower.
Cole has found himself attracted to not only the mystery woman singing
in the shower, but also his friend’s girlfriend that has just moved from LA,
Ella. Soon, they find themselves
embroiled in a love triangle that rivals anything you’ve read before. Will Ella stick with the stability of David,
or go for the man who sings to her soul in Cole?
I’ll warn you, I may overuse the word awesome a bit in this
review. Because this book was just so
completely awesome. So much romantic
tension, uncertainty, desire…it had it all!
I liked Ella as a character, but I have to admit that I found her
timidity and shyness to be a bit off putting.
Perhaps because I can’t personally identify, but it was interesting to
see her struggle to figure out what SHE wanted and needed in a man and just generally
in her life. Plus, Cole is friggin’
awesome. He’s hot, he’s sweet, he’s
talented…I am totally team Cole, I have to admit. Not that David is a bad guy exactly, but Cole
just really buttered my bread.
Another awesome thing about this awesome book is that the sexual
tension is off the charts! I mean, for most of the story Cole doesn’t know Ella
is his mystery showerer and Ella doesn’t know Cole is her mystery
showerer! When they figure it
out…BOOM! It was crazy…and now I can’t
wait to read the next book. I just
thought it was a very original way to bring two characters together. I mean, these two people basically fall for
each other sight unseen. Crazy awesome.
Overall, I really enjoyed this original and awesome story. 4.5 stars.
