Gilded Lily by Vivian Winslow

After catching her fiancé Jack in bed with her sister the day before her wedding, New York socialite Lily Baron escapes to Rio, her honeymoon destination—alone. There, Marcelo, the dark and sexy hotel masseur, releases a heated passion Lily had never experienced with Jack. When Lily meets handsome and powerful Brazillionaire Gustavo de Lima, she can hardly resist him. There’s just one problem. He’s married. In this uber-sensual city, will Lily’s reluctance to be with a married man, in light of her own fiancé’s betrayal, give way to her burning desire for Gustavo?

This was a short read, about 75 pages that surprisingly had a lot of depth.  Lily is a woman betrayed.  She finds her fiancé in bed with her SISTER (yeah!) the day before her wedding, so she escapes to her honeymoon destination alone.  While there she meets two very different men.  Marcelo, masseur with a special touch…he awakens something in Lily she didn’t know existed and had never experienced before (where can I get a massage like this?).  Then there’s Gustavo, the obscenely rich Brazilian who wants Lily and makes it known to her.  And he seems like a man who gets what he wants.  But the problem is that he’s married, and Lily finds herself wondering if she can do to someone else what was done to her.  Follow Lily as she learns more about herself than she knew was possible.
First off, this book is super-hot.  Like, incredibly hot.  It is erotica and it’s the way erotica should be.  There was an actual plot combined with the hot sex, which is always a plus.
Lily is also a very strong character.  Her journey of sexual discovery not only awakens her in the bedroom, but out of it as well.  It makes her realize that she’s worth fighting for, and following her as she reaches her potential was engaging and interesting.  She’s super rich, but learns that she can find happiness both in and out of her social circle.
Overall, even though this is a short read that ends in a cliffhanger, I enjoyed it.  I admit, I wonder why books like this aren’t just one long book instead of several short stories.  That always makes question things a bit.  But, it’s a solid story with a lot of promise, and I’m interested to read the next one. 4 stars.
