This story was
one that I completely enjoyed, and hated when it ended! I was a bit worried
when I started it because it was the 4th book in the series, and I
haven’t read the previous books before starting this one. Thankfully though, I
was still able to follow along with the story without any problems whatsoever.
The story is a
historical one, and even though I wasn’t completely sure how I would like a M/M
romance set in a historical time I was once again caught off guard with how
well the story was written. I really believe that Ms. Boyd did a great job
writing a story that takes place in a time long ago, yet it was written in a
way that even if you’re not a fan of historical’s you would still be able to
enjoy it.
I think out of the
characters mentioned in this story, my favorite would be James. I am a total
glutten for punishment but I completely enjoyed the back and forth that he
faced during the story. I also liked how it wasn’t an instant thing for him
either. He did have his mixed feelings about everything, even after he found
out that his feelings were returned, he was still worried.
With this being
the first book that I have read by Ms. Boyd, she has a new fan for life! I can’t
wait to go back and read the other books in this series.
