This was a short read, but one that is really well done with a great storyline and characters.

Portia wakes up on New Year’s Day with a hangover and some pretty hot (sort of) memories from the night before.  It was one night that changes the course of Portia and Justin’s lives forever.  See, Portia is a rich girl and Justin is a boy from the rough side of the Bronx.  He’s helping to support his family since his father is not in the picture.  One night of letting loose with Portia, and the explosive chemistry between them forces them to see each other in a different light, throwing preconceptions out the window.  Can these two opposites make it work?  Should they even try?

For a short book, I felt this told a very complete and enthralling story.  Portia I have to admit I wasn’t so sure about for most of the book.  She seems to fall into all the poor little rich girl trappings and in the beginning I struggled to see what someone like Justin would see in her.  Justin is just a great guy.  He loves his family and he works hard to make sure that his little brothers don’t go without.  He’s strong, but gentle.  He’s a great character and easily the best part of this story.

I thought the story was told very well as well.  I think my only complaint is that there were a few words thrown in that didn’t seem to fit into the story.  Is this author British?  Because when you have a man from the Bronx call an apartment a “flat” that just doesn’t jive.  It’s a little thing, but I found that it bothered me because it was true to the story.  I wish someone would have caught that so that it could be changed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book.  It’s a classic storyline, but deals with some serious issues and I felt that it dealt with them extremely well.  I would definitely recommend this read.  4 stars.
