It’s no secret that I loved Try.
I have actually really enjoyed all of Ella’s books, but Try was probably
my favorite. So, needless to say, I had
high hopes for Take.
Take brings us right back into the thick of things with Logan and
Tate, starting where Try left off. This
installment finds Logan and Tate trying to settle into a life together. Try dealt with their vulnerabilities and Take
deals with their emotions and pasts. We
find out what lead Logan to be who he is (omg..soooo sad) and see each of them
grow and take what they want. They will face obstacles together and you have to
read it to see if it brings them closer together or ends up tearing them apart.
This book was far more emotional for me than Try was, and I wasn’t
sure that was possible when I finished Try.
I think why this one hit me so hard is because it’s about not only
coming to terms with feelings and desires, but also coming out to your family,
friends and co-workers about those feelings and desires. I have people in my life who are very dear to
me who have had to face this obstacle, and I thought that Ella did a fantastic
job in handling such a serious issue with grace, but also with just enough drama
and build up to make it gripping. I was
seriously stunned at several points in this book, some good and some bad. In the end, it all came together and was
worth every single nail biting moment.
Yet again, this was just a really well-written book with wonderfully
deep characters that really made me feel something. I’m really not quite sure that I’ve ever read
books that hit me so hard right in the heart.
I mean, this series is seriously going to go down for me as one of the
best I’ve read. The third book could be
Logan and Tate attempting to light a fire underwater, and if it’s done as well
as the first two, it’ll be a page turner that I will give 5 stars to, just as
I’m doing with Take.
Just as I
suspected, the author took us into the next phase of Tate and Logan’s
relationship and OMG it was emotionally charged and intense at times. She
did a fabulous job at showing us the acceptance they both given the situation
and the courage to admit to the world of their relationship. We also saw
a transition of the student becoming the leader and I was amazed at that.
To see Tate come out of his shell and stand up to take command of the
relationship was brilliant and encouraging. Logan’s love for Tate is what
I truly believe gave him the trust and ability to let go and allow Tate to lead
them many times. So for me the two words that sum up this book are trust
and acceptance.
Tate wasn’t
given the chance to tell his family in his own way about his love for
Logan. His family refuses to detach from his soon to be ex-wife and she
along with his sister forced his hand. To say his family wasn’t accepting
would be an understatement. The time had come for Tate to make the
choice, his family or Logan. It was painful to watch his turmoil as he
tried to come to terms with his choice. You have to remember he is being
asked to trust this man he met a few weeks ago and was known for his playboy
ways. Not to mention he is still coming to terms that he is in a
homosexual relationship. So much for Tate to take in and deal with all at
once but he only hoped he wasn’t going to be alone.
During
this book Logan also made some major transitions as well. We get to find
out about his past and why he was the man he is today. When faced with a
decision he is going to have to weigh the options of putting Tate in an
uncomfortable situation or risk rejection. After finding out what has
caused his fears, it is easy to see why he worries so much about pushing Tate
too fast. When they go to game night, not only is it one of the best
scenes in the book, it also is a wakeup call for Logan and now that he has seen
the truth, he has to decide what he is going to do about it.
Just when
you think those two have had enough, a blast from the past shows up and begins
to turn things over once again. The ending was a cliff hanger of sorts,
not the kind that you want to throw your kindle across the room, but it does
leave you wanting more. I really love how this author is taking our two
men through the process so slowly yet with an abundance of love and
challenges. She is giving us a real inside view of people who face these
choices every day and after reading Logan and Tate’s story I am not sure you
will ever be able to say love isn’t worth it again.
I will be
looking forward to the next installment of their story; I need to see how they
handle the past burden that has now surfaced.
“That’s your truck?”

“It’s so…”
“So what?” Logan challenged as he pulled his keys from his pocket.
“Old?”
“Excuse me. I’ll have you know I was driving this baby all through college and she still runs like a dream.”
Tate watched as Logan walked over to run his hand over the scratched-up tailgate, and he was amazed that he even made that look sexy. Like he was stroking a lover.
“And it’s a she, huh?”
Now around at the passenger’s side, Logan opened the door and looked at him over the bed of the truck. “Yeah. Jealous?”
Laughing, Tate walked over to where Logan stood with a hand on the door and kissed him slowly on the mouth.
“I’m jealous of anything you stroke like that.”
“Get in the truck, Tate.”
“Or else?”
Logan stepped forward, crowding him back against the inside frame of the vehicle. “You’re not ready for the or else…”
