The system says I am a Monster. I will not let them kill me. I will survive.

I Am Alive

This book combines elements of two very popular dystopian novels The Hunger Games and Divergent to create a world where you are evaluated at age 16 and if you receive a score under 5 you are forced to compete in the Monster Show in order to earn a spot in society again.

This book focuses on the disparity between classes and what makes a perfect human being.  The Summit, the government, uses technology to monitor their citizens from birth and then uses that same technology to eventually make sure they are killed if they are deemed unsatisfactory.  It was fascinating to me to see what the author views as a possible future if we continue to idolize technology the way we do.  Overall this is a very good book that leaves you looking for the next book in the series to continue the story.
Initiation and Dissension

Wow this world is amazing and Mira is an amazing heroine.  She is smart, strong and refuses to let anyone crush her spirit.  She may be owned, kept in captivity and forced to fight to the death routinely but she will never give in.

It was fascinating to see a world where even with all of their longevity and strength the vampires were kept as slaves used strictly for entertainment and hunted to near extinction.  Both the prequel and novel are amazing and while the main conflict in both books is solved in the end the overarching storyline is just beginning so you are still left with questions at the end.  I am very interested in reading the next book in the series so I can find out what happens to these fascinating characters.

Finding Hope and Rex Rising

This world is simply amazing it is every sci-fi and fantasy lover’s dream.  I loved how the author developed and used her own mythology to drive the plot it really adds to the story and helps the reader sink into the world

I was very intrigued by the most powerful race in this world, the Gultur, they are female humans that possess and are influenced by a fully matured parasite called Regina.  In fact most of the plot lines in this story revolve around the various parasites you can contract in this world.  The character development and the ending to this book were both done very well and while leaving plenty of room for more books we were not left on a cliffhanger which is nice.  I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

Resonant and Reign of Blood

This book world is just plain fascinating.  A virus that can turn humans into feral vampires has taken over Las Vegas and it doesn’t seem like anyone but April and her family is immune.

April is a true heroine she is strong, smart and determined to live in a world that seems to be crumbling around her.  However, she is also stubborn, impulsive and immature in some of the situations.  As the story progresses we get to see April begin to mature emotionally and want to be a part of something instead of just being a renegade.  There are some revelations at the end of the book that make me very anxious to read the next book and see how everything turns out.

I have read many apocalypse books but I had never read a demon apocalypse book so this was a first for me.  I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.  I really liked the characters and the premise of demons randomly attacking in hordes is very interesting but I was unsatisfied with the ending.

I felt like I read an entire book to almost have it negated in the end.  I was left feeling bereft and wondering what was going to happen to the characters.  I was given no closure and while I am interested in finding out what will happen next I am almost wary.  This was a very dark and violent book and while that is to be expected in this genre there is usually a ray of hope that makes it worth it all in the end and I did not feel that was delivered in this book.
